I claimed your photo request for the above and noticed there is already a photo on Thad's memorial page (#96236739). You can't see Lois' inscription so I will hopefully get a better photo for both memorials. We've had a continuing blanket of snow this winter but hopefully our current warm up will allow me to resume my volunteer activities soon.

I have made your suggested links to her parents and husband. If you are directly related I would be glad to transfer as I am not directly related.
Thanks for the info

|Rick Miller||Sgt. George W. Shaver|
The Shaver Cemetery where he is buried is located on Jackson Road about a mile southwest of Highway 92.
There are several other graves in the cemetery marked by fieldstones.

Thanks, Barb, for alerting me to the wonderful photos that Deb submitted for the King Cemetery. By the looks of it, it's no wonder that no one was able to find it. Too bad that the owners of the property or perhaps a county group couldn't adopt it for maintenance purposes.
Anyway, it's great what Deb was able to accomplish.

HI. Yes, I live in Fort Wayne and posted to Find A Grave the stones that I read in the Willshire Cemetery about 18 months ago. My partner and I read a very old section in the cemetery that day along the ditch or stream that runs behind the cemetery. I have removed my memorial. Penny

Bless you! Thank you for researching the location of Philip's final resting place. The King Family Cemetery has to be the location since he was brought home by his family. I was unaware that he had a daughter - maybe we'll find her some day. This is great news. (I've deleted by memorial for him.)

At some point the memorials for Old Town Hillside cemetery were merged into the Hillside Cemetery. These are separate cemeteries.
I reloaded the "Old Town" memorials but I did NOT remove the 465 erroneous memorials from Hillside Cemetery.
I have transferred the management of both memorials to you.
The one listed in Hillside Cemetery should probably be deleted.
"Old Town" is a much smaller cemetery compared to the 9.5 acres of Hillside. It would be easier to locate a grave if one were to look in the proper cemetery.
I suspect that many of the graves in "Old Town" are either unmarked or unreadable. About half the cemetery is on a steep slope. I counted about 218 headstones on the level portion of the cemetery. I doubt that there are many more than 50 headstones still in place on the slope.
I suspect that at least 100 headstones are missing. Many of the headstones, I suspect, have fallen over and slid down the slope. The slope is pretty barren with little sign of graves.
The few remaining headstones are generally located along the perimeter of the slope including the sides and a few left upright at the bottom of the slope.

Hello Barb...I recognized the Lafara name right away, and can't believe I found my own cousin here! I am great granddaughter of Ella King (not granddaughter) Your grandma Edith was a sister to my grandpa Warren. I am excited that there is another King researcher from my family and sure would like to somehow compare info. I'm not sure if I ever met you but I met your mother about 10 years ago when I first started genealogy. How is she? Email me at
firstname.lastname@example.org so I don't have to talk to you through this site, please. Looking forward to hearing from you.
