Hi Jake, on his memorial you state that he was a Union Solider but he was B. in 1853. Surely that is wrong? Just wondering, Thanks Sue

Hi Jake,

I just wanted to say that this Veteran of WWII is listed as being buried at Fairview in Cheney, when he really is resting at Medical Lake Cemetery, Medical Lake. I was there today and saw his grave.

Thanks, cookie

RE: Re: Abraham Theodore Williams
That would be fine with me, although I am distantly related. He was my ancestor's brother.

Thanks for all you do with Find A Grave!

Re: Abraham Theodore Williams
Abraham Williams (1847-1912) was the brother of my ancestor, Catherine Williams, who married Jason Whinery. Abraham & Catherine were children of Mary Studebaker & Nehemiah Williams.

Catherine & Jason Williams moved west to the Spokane, WA, area where they farmed on Moran Prairie. I see Abraham also moved to Spokane.

I hope to connect with relatives of Abraham & share info.

McKendria Jones
Some information which may be helpful to you in your search for this Civil War vet.

His widow, Josephine E Morse Jones, filed her claim for widow pension from Idaho on 31 Mar 1892. The last known child of the marriage, Horace, was born in Jul 1886 before they left Wisconsin. Date of death is probably somewhere inbetween, probably closer to 1891-1892. As she was the postmaster of Post Falls, Idaho in 1900, she was in the curious position of certifying her own pension vouchers for payment!

The M1845 Card Record of Headstones Provided Union Civil War Veterans is maddeningly unhelpful. A stone was issued about 1904, but the index card does not say where it was sent, nor what the date of death of the veteran was. However, you are looking for an Original Belknap government (US Shield) marker, 10 inches wide, probably extremely worn by now, which originally read "McKendria Jones Musician Co K 5 Wis Inf"

Daughter Lelia, who married Merton L Austin, has a Washington death certificate on 13 Jan 1924 at Colbert. This certificate probably says where she was buried, and could be where a family lot is located. Good luck, and stay in touch.
