Thank you for pointing out the error on the cemeteries. I have corrected the information. Mary was my mother's twin sister.

Woops...2 quick questions.
Olive doesn't have a headstone? Was there confirmation from the sexton she's buried there in a certain plot?

Also...Russell's bio says 'father of 8'....& I have 9. Can you tell me which one doesn't belong? Gahh, lol.

RE: James Riddle

I am not related to James but I have been researching this cemetery and through a previous researchers notes which was found through census, birth & death records of Barry County.
I found the Military info by accident when I was searching for another person's info.

I'm not sure where she found out about the grandfathers, but I found some info on them in a Military website.
Do you have any names & dates on them, if so I will double check it for you?.

Mr. Watson, I have a newspaper article re: Aunt Fannie's 90th birthday party and her recollections crossing the plains on her way to California. Would you be interested in having it added to her Find A Grave site? Carol Hines

RE: Re:Riddles and cousins
Not a problem. Knowing your family link and seeing the amount of work you have put into these memorials I can understand. I have a few photos taken at the 50th wedding anniversary for Joe & Matilda Riddle and a large portrait of them. The portrait was matted and framed while mother had it. I haven't made a digital copy of it yet. Too many projects and I don't want to take the frame apart.
Take care,

I just figured out your connection in the Riddle tree a moment ago. Ethel Riddle Watson appears to be the link. I'd love to see the information and contacts you mentioned. I'll try and send you my e-mail.

RE: Ethel May Hatcher
What do I think? I'm thinking that I wish I still had contact with Ethel's niece so I could ask!

The vital stats match up -- her birthdate, birth place and last residence. But the name on the tombstone confuses me. If it was just Ethel Gadd Hatcher -- her first name/mother's maiden name/her maiden name -- I'd figure that she decided to ditch her married names and create a new one. But who the heck is Gilbert?

Another history mystery.

Ethel May Hatcher
Mr. Watson, I'm trying to determine whether Ethel Gadd Gilbert Hatcher (Find A Grave Memorial# 51015857) is Ethel May Hatcher.

Ethel May Hatcher was born 19 Sep 1903 in Streeter, Summers County, W.Va., a daughter of James William Hatcher and wife Sarah Ann Frances "Annie" Gadd. Source: delayed birth certificate.

The information that I have indicates she married three times. 1. The name on her delayed birth certificate, issued in 1945, is Ethel Hatcher Blackburn. She was married in Giles County, Va., on Dec 24, 1936. 2. A column in the Beckley Post-Herald (W.Va.) has information about her husband Earl Foley. 3. Her name is Carroll or Correll in family obituaries.

Ethel and her sister Sylvia lived in LA.

Do you have any idea if Memorial# 51015857 is "my" Ethel? And, if it is, how did she become Ethel Gadd Gilbert Hatcher?

FYI. I've contributed to the Hatcher Families Genealogy Association in the past. I also have a Web site with more information about Ethel's branch of the Gadd family: West Virginia Memories.

Any information would be appreciated.
