Moore, Whitt, Casey, Woolards. i Wayne & Butler Counites
Hi Barbara,

I am hoping that maybe you will be able to help me untangle a family tangle. I am related to Caseys, Woolards, Moores, in Wayne and Butler Counties. Apparently Black River Township was in both counties. I think that my Dad was related to both the Whitts and Paynes , the Whitts from his Mother's side and the Paynes from his father's side . I am wondering how the Whitt's -Paynes are related to each other.. The particular families I am trying to untangle are
from the late 1800's to ABOUT 1920.
?? female Woolard married Mr. Whitt in Tennessee.
(per letter from her sister Luvicea Lousie Woolard Cssey's mention of her sister in a letter "my sister married a Whitt)
So this lady would have been my Grandmother Nora Florence Casey's maternal Aunt and Mr. Whitt her Uncle.
is this maybe the Mrs Whitt who raised Joe carl Payne?
Alice Moore (Dad's paternal Aunt) married Mr Payne. Alice died and a A Mrs Whitt., Sarah Jane or Jennie raised Joe Carl Payne . There was also a little girl named Thelma Payne but I don't know who raised her. I am not sure but I think Sarah may have also been an Aunt to my Dad from the Moore side as well.
Then there's a John Payne and A Ray Whitt who were his cousins I remember him talking about them and I think I met one of them when I was little) where they related ? Why did Mrs Whitt raise Joe Payne? Was she related to Alice?
They called my Grandma Aunt Nora.
AND Nora Casey Porch Moore (my Grandmother) had a sister in law whose name may have been either Hawes or Porch may have married a Whitt ..I think her name was Sarah, I actually have no clear idea at all.

The reason this is important to me is because my Grandmother and Grandfather, Nora F. Casey Porch and Harry Moore were introduced at the church service and then married a week later because they were both recently Widowed with small children and he needed help with his younger children which included a newborn. and Grandma had been forced off the farm with her 4 children by her 1st husband's family very shortly after her husband died, in Jan 1907. She and Grandpa were married 6 June 1907. This was in BlackRiver Township. It has always bothered me that they could have been thrown together like that at church. She had never heard of him before, He was over 15 years older than she and his oldest sons were less than 10 years younger than her. I very recently learned a great deal more about Grandma's family and I now wonder if they ( Whitts and Paynes) WERE related to each other and if her former sister in law was also married to a Whitt then maybe their families were behind it and if there was people in the family who knew one or both of them it doesn't sound as awful. I don't mean my Grandfather was awful, he was a very kind man and I never heard her say anything different but just the thought that she had been more or less forced into a marriage just always bothered me,

To further Muddy the waters Three of Alfred' and Patsy Woolard's children married 3 Caseys from the same family. and they all named their kids the same names. AGGGGGGG!

Hudgins Family
I am glad the information was helpful. I just like adding what I can find about a family. I personally am not satisfied with just a birth and death date. I like to know who they are even if I never heard of them until I added the memorial.

You are welcome. The cemetery is only about 3 acres with about 50% fill. I also took many more photos and posted them while I was there. One of my great great grandmother's (Martha Justine Govero) is buried there and a great aunt Mary Frances (King) Boyer.

The information came from the book, "Wayne County's Lost River Settlements & The Papers of H.Y. Mabrey" by Cletis R. Ellinghouse. He also wrote the Kime articles.

Trosper Family Line
Hi, I'm trying to research information regarding the Trosper Family Line. My grandmother was Jewell Helen Trosper. Her parents were William Henry Trosper & Arpha Mae Marler Crutchfield. We have very little information and anything that anyone has would be helpful. My grandmother died very young and we have had no contact with any family in the Tropser line.

You are very welcome. I enjoying doing this. I usually come away with more photos than are requested. I figure at one point I may see all headstones in the surrounding areas.

I have added more information to this memorial. All came from the same source, this information was collected by Ken as donations from members of the families. I know their are mistakes everywhere, Find A Grave, Death Certificates, family records, ect. I can not say which memorial is correct. You might try to get information from Church records to try to verify.
Good luck in your searching. God Bless.

Henry Clayton Trosper
Bonnie -

I am researching my sons family tree for him, he is turning 12 this month, and I am really trying to take it further. I had a rough skeleton of it several years before, and once he and his father split, I put it away. He is asking questions about the other side of his family, and sadly, his father never took the interest to find I dragged out the tree, and we are in the process of putting it together again.

Any help we could be to one another would be amazing. I know that William Henry Trosper is my sons great - great grandfather. His daughter Mary Viola is the great grandmother, married to Elmer Dee Fleeman. Their daughter Virgie Lou Mae Edwards is his grandmother.

I have posted a copy of his death certificate. The cemetery where he is buried will only provide grave locations to family members. Please contact the office to obtain plot information and add it to the memorial page and/or your photo request, so that the volunteer photographer can find the grave marker for you.

Working on Whitt Line ... I have a second wife for Christopher Whitt. Her name was Sarah Elizabeth White ?...married in 1882...appears on 1900 Census. Do you have anything on this second wife and the breakdown of children between the two.
