Lot numbers at Green-Wood Cemetery are unique and are assigned in the order the lots were purchased or in the case of a Public Lot the day grave number one was purchased.

Public Lot 14888 is a large lot of 1617 single "as needed" graves, and is located in both sections 16 and 17. Sections at Green-Wood are based on a grid and are not defined by roads and walkways. Lots intersected by the invisible grid lines are by tradition recorded to the lower number. Likewise private family lots made up of multiple conjoined lots often purchased at various times and having various numbers; interments are recorded to the lowest lot number.

RE: Ryan Family St. Roch
Sorry about the issues with that set of edits! As I mentioned, Find-A-Grave was having some type of issue with the advertisements when I was trying to process edits last night. It was going incredibly slow and pages kept crashing. I finally gave up and went to bed! It's running much better now. Amelia's maiden name is Ulrich. I am not an extremely close relation. Amelia was the wife of a great uncle, James Ryan (1864-1944). I had wanted to "hold" the memorials because I find there is a LOT of confusion with the James Ryan families in New Orleans... they all gave their sons the same names at the same time going down the line. Since I have the family records, passed down through the daughter's line, and pulled documentation from the La. Archives, I've been contacted by quite a few distant cousins via this medium... and I find having my screen name attached to the memorials facilitates this contact. That would be particularly important in this case, as I can't find the grave of James and therefore cannot connect this lower part of the tree to the older generations of Ryans (which are our direct line) through links. I just need to find JAMES!!! ;-)

PS: Ryan Family St. Roch
They've added so many advertisements to the F-A-G pages that it takes a LOT of time to get edits done now... so it's not as much fun. Are you noticing the same thing? I've paid the $5 to sponsor a lot of our family just to avoid the annoying ads, but then I discovered that the ads are only removed from the display pages, and NOT from the pages when you are editing! So, it still makes my computer crawl on edits. Blah.

RE: Ryan Family St. Roch
I can send the link requests to connect family members and let you write the memorials for each of these. It's always best when the closest relation manages the memorial, as they do tend to be a lot more personal then. Though... maybe I tend to make the memorials of our family members tooo personal! Have fun! ~Evey :-)

Ryan Family - St. Roch Cem #1
Hello, and thank you for documenting these graves. Are you related to the Ryan family? If not, I would appreciate a transfer. They are among our more recent ancestors. The memorials are:

Amelia Ulrich Ryan (mother) - 130504604,
Edward J Ryan (son of Amelia) - 130504659,
Matthew S Ryan (son of Amelia) - 130504713,
Henrietta W Ryan (spouse of Matthew) - 130504775,
James E Ryan (son of Matthew) - 130504434,
Gertrude Ryan Buddy (daughter of Matthew) - 130504976,
Florence Ryan Kauffman (daughter of Amelia) - 130505068,
Herbert P Kauffman (spouse of Florence) - 130504895.

Also, I'm wondering... did you find any other markers for "Ryan" located near this one? I had anticipated finding James, husband of Amelia, with his family. He is not listed on the cemetery directory at Greenwood with his siblings or parents. I would be so happy to find him!

Again, thanks for your consideration.
Evey

It was our pleasure! "Our" meaning Girl Scout Troop 609 of Sufolk County Long Island. My daugther took part in the flag placement ceremony today. Our troop happened to get Section 11 I took the pic and she placed the flag! Happy Memorial Day! :)

You are very welcome! I also uploaded a photo for Octavia Britton Holiday whose stone is next to Elznobia's, and I speculate they may be sisters.

Samuel Nathan is my first cousin 5x removed. His grandparents are my 5th great grandparents. I have lots of info on the Nathans and simply want to connect families with whatever additional info I have. I suppose I should use that as my bio info! :)

Thanks for trying to find the grave of John James Crellin. I found the information for his burial in an online transcription on the NOLA Gen Web page. I do not know for certain that he is marked.

Nepotas & Dedeshko Graves - Linden Hill, Queens, NY
Yes, I can upload the photo of the Di Salvo stone.
I'll add it to the Anne Nepotas memorial and then I think you'll be able to copy it to the Joseph Nepotas and Konstantin Dedeshko graves.
The cemetery phone number is718-821-6480. They have a new website: www.lindenhillumcemeteryny.com
Best,David
fyi: it looks like Linden Hill Cemetery has a duplicate entry - so there's one for Linden Hill United Methodist & Linden Hill Cemetery. I wrote to findagrave to ask them to merge the two. Don't know if this affects any of your entries.

I just saw that you attempted to photograph this vault for me. Thanks SO much for your effort!

As a matter of fact, Bertha Wilson was the (ex?) sister-in-law of Beatrice. I wonder if they share a vault? Is there any way to know for sure? I would love a pic of the vault if you still have it.
