RE: Eicheldinger's
Thank you for the kind words about my profile pic! It was taken at Greenwood Cemetery.

I'm of no relation to the Eicheldingers...just going through funeral home records and sending additional info and creating memorials where necessary. And it's always nice to find someone who is paying attention to their memorials and interested in keeping them up to date as new info may come in.

These funeral records are not all indexed, although they are digitized, so many people don't even know they exist, and they provide so much wonderful info. I posted thousands to findagrave - and they deleted every damn one of them. Which makes no sense to me since death certs are allowed - why not burial records? I mean, what better way to prove someone is buried somewhere than the record from the people who did the burying??? So now, I'm resigned to transcribing every single one. All I entered from 1894-1920 were wiped out. I can't tell you how many hours of work that was...It literally made me sick. All my work...totally disregarded without notice.

So I restarted. But this time with 1952 and working backwards. It's better, actually - because if I see someone is widowed, I can often find their spouse's earlier record and take care of both of them at once.

If I can be of any further assistance to you regarding Greenwood, please don't hesitate to ask. I have full access to their files.

RE: Shingler photos
Thank you. I am not invested too deeply in the Shingler line exactly. Vesta Shingler (#86740887)was a Bingaman and the Bingaman's are who I am following. I had seen the dates on her tombstone do not match her death certificate, so I needed a picture to verify there wasn't a typo.

She and husband Jacob had at least 12 children, many died in childhood & before PA death certificates started in 1906. If you have other pictures, it will be interesting to see if they are buried there. Thanks again!

I flew once with a Hiroquois from US Air Force ... it was during a exercice with the 82nd in Italy .... the pilote was a VN and thought he was still in war ;-))) what a flight .... You know each country give less money to their army ... when I joined the Belgium army in 1985 we were around 100.000 soldiers ... right now we are around 35.000 ... with more missions ...

Hope to come back in PA in a few years ... a great friend WW2 Vet is burried in Gettysburg .

Will be in NY and will visit the 9/11 mémorial ... was there in 2006 ... and after NY to DC .

Take care Brian
