Hi Hunter,

In December we exchanged a few messages on a common Hulsey relative.

I came across the memorial you created for Jewel Mary Frances Reid Whiteside, daughter of William Asa & Hattie Frances (Bennett) Whiteside.

Are you related to her? She is a distant Reid relative of mine. I just sent you an edit request to link her to her parents.

Best regards,
Debbie

RE: Hollingsworths and Gentrys
Hi Hunter, so we share the Hollingsworth line and possibly the Gentry line. . .I don't have so much on the Gentry's. I can't find much information beyond my great grandmother, Maggie Gentry Hollingsworth. Is she on your tree?

Hollingsworths and Gentrys
Hi Hunter, I am a descendant of both Hollingsworths and Gentrys. My paternal grandmother was a Hollingsworth and her mother was a Gentry. I am using Ancestry.com and a professional researcher to tie myself to a Revolutionary War veteran so I can join DAR. I am eager to know if you have a family tree on Ancestry that I can view or any other genealogy research that you could send me. My great grandmother was Maggie Gentry and my grandmother was Vera Hollingsworth. Are either of these names on your tree? They were both originally from Alabama, Lawley I think and moved to Atlanta in the early 1900's, like the 40's, I think. Thanks.

RE: Pointer
The information that I am hoping for is there a map or reference as to "where" in Pine Grove Cemetery Martha Caroline Henderson/Pointer and Henry Thomas Pointer are buried. There is no markers for either of them my grandmother said. She never showed us where in Pine Grove, only said thats where they were. But now that grandmother is gone And no markers, is there ANY other stored/kept site records? We also have climbed and searched for "relative" names and empty spaces. Hoping someone has recorded in what area of Pine Grove that they rest. Thank you, Donna

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping.......

Yes, I am a descendent of the White Plains Morgans. My great grandfather was Clark Morgan, son of Caleb Garrison Morgan, son of Samuel Morgan Jr and so on.....

I also descend from the Martin's and the Watsons.

Clarice was my second cousin through her mother.

Pointer
I see that you have searched Walter D Pointer 1872 in Pine Grove Cemetery in Anniston, Ala. My g-grandparents were Henry Thomas Pointer 1877? and Martha Caroline Henderson/Pointer 1868?. They are both buried in Pine Grove with no markers! Usrey Funeral Home buried Martha in 1930 I do not know when Walter Sr died. 1944 Walter (Buster) Pointer Jr died. Iam attempting to make a Mothers and Daughters memoir for My granddaughter, who's mother (my daughter) died in 2009. Any leads or info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Donna email dndphillips@centurylink.net

Hunter,

Do you happen to know if Clarice Borden Cobb's (Memorial# 15640973) husband, Milton Lafayette Cobb is also buried in this cemetery?

Kindest Regards,

RE: Irene McClain H. Hulsey
Yes, I found them and linked her to them. I didn't find Mr Hulsey who was apparently her 2nd husband but I did find her first. She was married to John Peyton Hewitt who died in 1951. I also linked her to him. They were the parents of at least 3 daughters, maybe 4. There was a Willie D, age 3 in the 1940 Fulton Co Census who isn't mentioned in her obituary. One daughter predeceased her. Emma Jean Hewitt Jones was b. 14 Apr 1939 and d. 4 Feb 1998 in Anniston. When I found them in Atlanta in 1940, Irene's parents were living "next door." The census showed her father as George F age 64, with Nancy age 40, Hardy age 19, Robert age 16, and Herman age 10. Hardy seemed to be the same child as Artis in the 1930 Calhoun Co AL census.

If you ever find a given name for Mr Hulsey, let me know.

RE: Irene McClain H. Hulsey
OK, that helps! And explains why I can't find her in my family data. I created her memorial from her obituary and the info it contains is all I have on her. However, Hulsey is my maiden name and I would love to find out who she married so I can get her linked in to the family. So, you're saying her maiden name is McClain, right? I'll do some more research to see if I can find her husband. Can you tell me who her parents were?

RE: Irene McClain H. Hulsey
Hi Hunter,

I would be happy to share any information I have but at the moment I'm coming up with nothing. I can't find Irene in my data. Who did she marry? That might help me find her.

Jesse Elton McEwen died in 1940 so I don't think he would be the same man that taught school in the 1950's. It could have been a grandson of his but I don't have information on his descendants other than what I posted to his memorial.

Best regards,
Debbie

David S Achimon is my great great great grandfather. He had 3 wives (we think). My great great grandfather, John Dallas Achimon was one of Martha's half brothers.

Martha "Mattie" A Saffold
Her maiden name was Achimon. Her father was David S Achimon, buried at the Roxana Cemetery, Waverly, Tallapoosa Co, AL. Her mother was Sarah Sternes, burial unknown.

Her middle is probably not Mary, Mattie had a sister born about 1858 named Mary and another sister named Margaret.

RE: Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery
Hunter, there is a church next to the cemetery but I don't know who would have the burial records. B. B. Comer Memorial Library has archived the local newspapers so you might be able to find obituaries depending on how far back you are looking.

Could you add that he was born in Anniston, Calhoun County, AL. Also, he died in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas. Also, change his status to a famous person. He also wrote "The education of Little Tree".

RE: James R. Hollingsworth
Hunter, how do not know John t. Is not burried there? I have heard the same story about dark corners, more years ago than you are old. I just want history of our family, not numbers. I fell if you really care, you would at least put flowers if not some info. On the memorials.
And I have asked for some memorials to be transferred to me and have not received them, I understand if that person is related to the memorial, the but if they are not, that's ok too.
I am not out for numbers.

RE: Estell Virgil Gowens
He was 16 and in those days I guess that was pretty old. HA! I will change it on his tree. Any Gowens info you have will be greatly appreciated. Its been a big issue. I am going to Centre this week to work on it more. They aren't as sure about them as I thought. His dad died when he was young so that could be why. The Matthews, Hicks, Bryant and the worse has been Barnett. Thanks for the info!!
