I continue to move through the Parkwood Cemetery population of over 9,700 slowly, but surely and finding more Somers. Instead of sending you a message every time I find a new Somers, maybe check under Somers in Parkville Cemetery and Mausoleum periodically throughout the remainder of the summer. Then I won't have to bother you every time I find a new one.

|LShue||another Somers in another cemetery|
I am currently try to fulfill photo requests for Parkwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, saw another Somers, and remembered your request for all Somers in Gardens of Faith, so I took a photo of the marker and added memorial pages for the couple just in case you were interested. Their names are John R. (1918-2008) and Hazel I. (1920-2005) Somers.

I'm not far from Holly Hill. In fact, they're one of the three cemeteries I've "adopted" near me to fulfill photo requests. However, I already fulfilled all of the photo requests for the past year last week because they're the only ones who are willing to work with me to locate gravestones. I will be going back towards the end of the summer to do the requests that come in over the summer if you're willing to wait that long. Just add people you want done to their photo request page and I promise I'll get to them by the end of the summer.

Here is the information that was on the other stones:
Lawrence W Somers - SM2 US Navy World War II -
Sep. 16, 1920-Jan. 17, 2003
Jean E. Somers - October 25, 1920-May 14, 1969
Beloved Son and Brother - Mark H Somers -
Jun. 24, 1960-May 3, 1978
Somers - Larry Gene - 1954 - _____- Lumpy - NAFB
Linda M. - 1958 - _____- Happy Feet
I'll keep an eye out for any other Somers I see in my travels through the cemetery, but I think this cemetery has a couple thousand burials and the office isn't willing to help me with location of markers, so it may take me a couple of months to get through it. Good luck in your research.

|LShue||Somers in Garden of Faith|
I just took and posted the photo you requested for Milton Somers on his memorial page and noticed that you had asked to look for other Somers in the same cemetery. I also found saw and took photos of the markers for Lawrence, Jean, and Mark in the same section of the cemetery, as well as Larry and Linda- who did not have a death date filled in, so I assume they are still living. If you decide to create memorial pages for the other Somers in Gardens of Faith, I would be glad to add the photos I took to their memorial pages, just let me know.

You are very welcome.

You are welcome! In addition to photographing Edward R. Glasow's stone, I photographed the graves right next to his and created memorials for them. I didn't link them because I'm not positive of the relationship, but they look like his wife and son:
Ethel M. Glasow #147324627
E. Thomas Glasow #147324409

Yeah...You're right. But I wouldn't put too much stock in the age given in the interment records as there often will be at least a small discrepancy with what's on the stone. I'm just happy when it's close!

Good news...In an unexpected surprise, there was actually a marker for one of the Geiwitz's (Mary/Maria) at the gravesite.

|Joel Shore||Requests for Geiwitz at Mt Hope...|
I have been researching your Geiwitz requests at Mt Hope and I have bad news: There are almost certainly no surviving markers for any of them. This is definitely true for the one in the Public Grounds, as the area where these burials were is no longer there...and by all indications for the others buried in a single grave in M. (I'll try to go out and get a picture of the location of their burial.)
However, there are some more recent family by that name buried elsewhere at Mt Hope. You can find them in these surveys of surviving gravestones:

|Bronx Aquarian||RE: Leonard Stewart|
There were no Stewart stones anywhere in the vicinity. I know this because Woodlawn chooses not to label ranges in Lot A so one has to work from a aerial photo and then work the entire surrounding area. We checked ten rows in either direction to be certain.

|Judy Williams||Mary Cooney/Margaret Englert @ Holy Sep|
OK, Mary and Margaret are on opposite sides of a double sided stone. It is a beautiful marble, but hard to read. One side, inscribed "Englert" has Margaret and also Anthony (1880-1946) and James (1909-1970). I created memorials for the other two. The other side of the stone is inscribed "Cooney Englert". It has Mary Cooney and also Baby Margaret Englert (1924-1925). I added a memorial for baby Margaret.

There is no stone for Dennis. The plot has 3 stones (and several empty spaces). I created memorials w/ pics for the 3 others buried there. Catherine A (1876-1950), Rose (d. 1923) and Laurence(d.1912).
