Debra,

You are most welcome. I prefer my memorials be taken care of by their family.

Blessings,

RE: Nels Nelson
I did find Midlang, Norway. Norwegians would adopt the last name of the city or farm they were from. I have found in my research that people from the same families would come over, and depending on when they landed in this country, would have different spellings of their last name. Some would keep the farm or city name, others would go with their last names and be spelled differently. Interesting there is no "datter, dotter, dottir" spellings for a last name! Does that help? If you already know this, I didnt mean to repeat it!
Let me know if I can help any further.

Nels Nelson Nielson
Does that help?
It accidentally sent before I could finish the message!
Let me know if there is anymore I can help with!

RE: Nels Nelson nielson
From what I can find on familysearch.org deaths and burials, and ancestry.com, His last name should be Nelson. Died in Pleasant Valley, Mower, Minnesota, age 77. Certificate #008918. His father is listed as Nels Nelson. They probably did come over as Nielson or Nielsen, but once here, was Nelson. Couldnt find if he was born in the US or immigrated here with his family.

Hi!
let me look into it. Midlang doesnt sound familiar but it could be where they were from in Norway.

RE: Note
Just read your note again and just wanted to give some pointers. F.A.G. does not send out messages to alert us users of changes. Users are finding these out, then telling others. One such new rule they put into place in Dec 2013, was the 21 day rule. If your edit requests are not fulfilled by the person you sent them to, they are automatically processed after 21 days. Guess this rule was because of the users who died, or just give up on their account. Still, I do not believe F.A.G. staff should then handle all those abandoned memorials. They should put them up for "adoption" and anyone who wants to maintain them can ask to have them transferred. Their strict rule of transferring only parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, is way too strict, and they should lighten up! I feel aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., should be included. Family is family, is family. Somewhere in the pages and pages of F.A.G. rules, says something about not including survivors in obits. How crazy is that? Some users stick to it, some don't, like me. They say only pictures you took should be posted. Another dumb thing I don't understand. You see all kinds of stuff, from all kinds of users. Good luck!

RE: Note
Sorry, I didn't write the person's name or their ID number. I think she has passed and her account and memorials are now abandoned. Happens way too much!

Note
You appear to be the last person who sent a message to user JNQS, back in May 2012. What gives with this person? No longer on F.A.G. website? Died?

Thore Emerson (Amundsen)
Thore Emerson (Amundsen) is brother to my great-great grandfather Nils Amundsen Maanum. Nils emigrated to Houston County, MN in 1870 with his wife Ingri Andersdatter Dahle and son Amund. Most of their descendants remained in or near Houston County as I see many of Thore's descendants remained in Morrison County. Thanks for making this site so informative--I'm hoping to connect with "cousins" as a result.

I put that date in before I got a copy of the life story of my great grandmother that she told Walter's daughter.

edited. I have the full story of their lives from Walter's granddaughter, but don't want to put it on there because it isn't pretty- Nels drank A LOT, was a womanizer, abusive & mean. that's why they divorced.

Hi Deb . . . thanks for your note. If these folks are part of your family I certainly would defer to your spellings and dates. May I ask that you send me a "SAC" for each of these and I'd be happy to make the changes. I appreciate your contacting me.

Thank you so much for trying! I do appreciate you giving the status update so I could add that to his memorial. Could you please add the photo you do have for him, even if you can't read the info? He currently doesn't have a photo. Thank you!!

Anyone is allowed--encouraged, even--to add photos to any memorial, whether or not a Photo Request has been placed. So please add any that you have for this family. Thanks!
