Calvin Gage
Are you sure the Calvin Gage born in 1817 is the one in Reuben Gage's Bible? I question because I have this Calvin as Williams son. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you!

Please DO NOT leave messages on a flower! That is not what the flower is for, and how often do you think a contributor looks at a flower for information? Please read the rules!

Issac George
I obtained most of my information from Barbara Shiflett, a cousin, who I meet through findagrave. My grandmother was a George.

Provide me your email and I will be glad to forward you some PDF files for that side of the family. Maybe you can fill in some missing blanks. Thanks.

Memorial# 144187734. The death date is an obvious typo/error and I cannot find my original notes. Any additional information would be appreciated.

Gage family
OK and OOPS. I've got the two wives' names swapped around - and you've proved it. I'll show what I have without any corrections::

Charles Elbert "Eb" Gage (6Mar1871 - 4Nov1939) (My second cousin 3 times removed) was married first to Mary Melvina "Mollie" Howard (26Aug1877 - 7Nov1915) (Also my second cousin 3 times removed). Her mother was Nancy C Howard. They had 3 children: Alice Rebeckah Gage who married Abner Keller "Keller" Wright, Dorothy Ellie "Dortha" Gage who married James Warren Wade (my second cousin twice removed), and Willie Chloe Gage who married Dal Harveston.

Charles Elbert "Eb" Gage then married Nancy Ellen Daniel (8Nov1881 - 24Feb1958) (Also my second cousin 3 times removed). Her parents were David Calvin Daniel and Frances Lucinda "Lucy" Hudspeth. They had two children: Harvey Earl Gage and Lewis Claude Gage.

The first name of the first wife should be Nancy and the first name of the 2nd wife should be Mary (Margaret).

The Lucy F Daniel living with him in 1930 would be his mother-in-law.

Charles Elbert "Eb" Gage's parents were Tilford Denton Gage and Martha J Wall. His grandparents were James Elbert "Jim" Gage and Lucretia "Cresie" Wood; and William David Wall and Mary George.

Lucretia (Wood) Gage
I just hadn't got to that family.

I have another child: Catherine "Kate" Katy" Wood, born 1829 in Arkansas(?). She 1st married as his only wife Matthew "Matt" Gage in about 1847 in Marion county, Arkansas and had 3 children: Mary Ann Gage (Married Benjamin Prentice), Miriam Gage and Missouri Gage. She then married Amos Warren "Warren" Gage as his 1st wife before 1857. They had 7 children: William Gage (1860-before 1865), William Gage (1865), Andrew J Gage (1867), Francis M Gage (Feb 1870-before 1880), Albert Gage (1874), Laura Gage (1876), and Sis Gage (1878).

Amos Warren Gage then married as his 2nd wife Mary Ann unknown after 1878 and they has 1 child Warren Gage (1880)

Matthew Gage and Amos Warren "Warren" Gage were the sons of John William "William" Gage and Rhoda Boydston (My fourth great grandparents) who are buried at Lower Campground Cemetery in Madison county, Arkansas.

That's all I have.

RE: Mary Coffey
What's difficult is that Phelps Co has both Mary Coffey and Mary/Martha Coffman listed in their Cemetery Book - birth and death dates the same. Do you have an obit for Mary/martha Coffman, died 1979? When I get some time, will see what I can find.

Another researcher has asked me to transfer Julia's memorial to her, but since you contacted me first about her, I wanted to check with you to see if you might want it. She said it is her great-great-grandmother.

She isn't entered in Find A Grave in either Kansas or Ottawa County, Oklahoma. I didn't check Missouri. You might contact the Cherokee County Genealogy & Historical Society in Columbus, KS. and ask if they have anything on her. Their email address is:

What a hard life she had! Have you found the mother in 1860? I added the information you provided and linked her to her parents, whose stones are in remarkably good shape, considering how old they are! You are a lucky researcher! (And lucky usually means you work hard at it.)

Julia Gage
Glad to help. Are you sure enough about her maiden name that I should add it? I had to laugh when I saw "Stratton." I have done a ton of research on my husband's Stratton line from Pennsylvania and Ohio, and there are sure a lot of them!

We hope to gather and post more Palmer obits eventually, but if there are others that would help you now, just let me know and we'll see if we can find them for you. My husband is much more patient about looking at microfilm than I am, so that is always his job. You really hit the jackpot with Julia's, which is so interesting.

Great obit with lots of info! I just posted it and added some links, etc. She went to work in a factory at age 9 - what different times those were.

That information was provided by the town clerk, who gave me her records when we made the directory for the cemetery. Would you like me to try to get her obit? They usually are pretty complete in that time frame.
