George Joseph McLaughlin in Wodland Cemetery

I had to pass on the edit to add "Sr." to George Joseph McLaughlin's memorial. He didn't become a Sr. until Jr. was born. It is the same way on my Dad's gravestone and military marker in Buckfield, Maine. He didn't become Donald Mackay Cooper, Sr. until my younger brother was born. I was supposed to be Daniel Mackay Cooper, but my cousin Daniel Ralph Cooper was born a couple of months before me. I was very small when I was born, so they named me after Tiny Tim from The Christmas Carol :)

Sincerely, Tim Cooper

Allie Elsemore Yates
Hi there, On your memorial for stephen yates #126323858, you inform us that son Eugene is included on Stephen's stone. Do you know if Eugene's wife Allie is also on there. I cannot find a death date for her. I do not expect you to ride into the cemetery with a dog sled team to look at the stone, but if you happen to know it would be great. Thanks so much. Marian

I read your Bio and just wanted to thank you for photographing the stone and sharing your work.

Harriet is my Gr Gr Grand Aunt. I have a copy of a Photo of her but it is not mine originally so I can not add it to Find A Grave.

Photo: Harriet Mann (Pollard) Gray. Photo taken by "Pearson, Calais, Me." On back of photo: "Austin, Nan and Roger, A Merry Christmas from Aunt Harriette, 1907." Original photo owned by L. Austin Gray Jr., Wesley, Maine;

On further researching on Ancestry her maiden name is Harriet Moore Pollard according to her daughter's marriage record.
Thank you again

Hello, How about a good ole new england ghost story~I've just posted some photos for a few memorials that you've created and i noticed that you also are related to the drews,(they married into dads side)curious if you have any family photos? If so maybe you'd know who the image that appears to the top right-side of his stone is? It seems to be a man with a beard in an old flannel suit, you have to look closely but it is there. Its not photoshop, was taken just at dusk.First one out of 930 taken, noticed it when we got home. Thank-you for your time

I would love to do that someday, but I live so far away. I haven't been to Calais since my Aunt Lillian (Wilson) Poole died in 1995.

I see you have Harry Acker Townsend, but do you know anything of his wife, Nellie Mumford (Rockwood) Townsend? I would think she would be buried with him in Calais. Her dates are 27 MAR 1888 Calais, Maine, to 1 JUN 1964, Woodland, Maine. She was the adopted daughter of Lorenzo Rockwood and his first wife, Ella. She married Harry A. Townsend on 16 APR 1906 in St. Stephen, N. B. They are my great grandparents. Their oldest daughter, Nina is my grandmother. Thank you for your time. My email is

Frank KIDDER, of Princeton, ME

I have a picture of the gravestone for Frank KIDDER. I just tried to upload it, and the web site won't let me.

He is the only one mentioned on the small stone. So, his wife is not mentioned. And, I just found out this week that his parents are buried with him. I've been searching for a long time for where my great-great-grandfather was buried. He was Joseph KIDDER (1839-1915), and he fought in the Civil War. I'm told there is .no. gravestone for him, and I would like to correct that.

I'm also told his mother, Mrs. Clara KIDDER, is buried there, and his married sister, Ruth.

Another grave has a KIDDER gravestone, a round dome with just KIDDER, no names. J. Calvin KIDDER, Jr., bought it, but I don't know who is currently buried there. I have a picture of that. (A librarian in Princeton got it for me.)

I'm told there is a 3rd KIDDER grave in the Princeton Cemetery, but I have no knowledge of a stone there. Joe's older brother, John, "died at sea" in 1887; John's first wife, Helen, is buried there. I'm just find out this week that John and Joe's parents, J. Calvin KIDDER, Sr., and Mary KIDDER are possibly buried with her.

Stone Finders
Wildwood Cemetery
That was fast. They merged the two cemetery's and have Wildwood Cemetery Also known as: Guptill Cemetery. That way if anyone looks for Guptill will find it and not add a new one, as MOCA list it as Guptill. So many cemetery's in Maine have name changes.

Stone Finders
Guptill Cemetery
I sent it in to be merged and have Wildwood Cemetery AKA Guptill Cemetery. This way it will be found as both and a new one will not be added. MOCA has it as Guptill Cemetery and if someone looks for it and do not find it they may add it.

Linda Higgins
Zebulon Cleaves
Hello Diane,

Thank you for recording my grandmother's cousin's information. My grandmother Frances Cleaves Hanf was wonderful about recording dates. She left me a book with notes and Zebulon Cleaves birth date was recorded as 22 May 1854 and he was born in Steuben.

I have updated via his record but wanted to let you know where I got the information.

Are you related to the Cleaves family line?

RE: regarding Edmund Bailey
Thank you for confirming his middle name. I was at first confused when I read it. I was trying to find the father of Nathaniel Bailey who was born in Newbury Essex Ma in 1739/1740. His father was Edmund, and Edmund's father was Isaac. Thank you for clearing this up for me.
