Happy to transfer them to you. In the future, when requesting transfers, it is much easier if you use the "Edit" tab on the memorial.

RE: Gaudettes
Hi Mark,

I haven't seen a burial listing in the Grafton town records for Cassimir or Philomena (Gaudette) Douville. If I see the listing I'll let you know, although if they were moved from St. Philips, that probably wouldn't be noted in the records I have been working from. I will also let you know if I run across records for Gaudettes.

Hi Mark,

I entered the Gaudettes from town records and they are also on my list of stones to locate and photograph. I'll add the note to my list that they are buried with Vitaline Douville.

RE: Vitaline Philomene Douville
Hi Mark,

When I asked about the plot plan I was actually thinking about Saint John's Cemetery in Worcester. I have a couple of open photo requests for gravestones at that cemetery. It's kind of far away for me and I have never been there, but I have the impression that it's kind of large. I'm happy to hear that the people there are helpful; that's not always the case with other cemeteries.

Headstones, as far as I know, are the standing monuments and the ones that are flat on the ground are markers. Unfortunately, a lot of the old headstones fall over and end up disappearing into the ground, as do the markers.

I also recently ran into a situation where I was searching for my great grandmother's burial location in Portland, Maine, which I found on the death certificate, but discovered when I went to the cemetery that there was never any kind of headstone or marker for her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this is probably more common than we think. Anyway, in my case, only cemetery records and the above-and-beyond assistance of one of the workers there allowed me to see exactly where she was.

Let me know if you are able to find any additional information on the Douvilles. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

Hi Mark,

You mentioned that there was no stone that you could see. Did Saint Johns have a photo or cemetery layout? I have an open photo request for a couple of people at Saint Johns because it's kind of far away for me so I haven't gone out there.

I know exactly where the BROUGH and MARTIN stones are and I believe these are the ones you are referencing as they are in the approximate location you mentioned. I photographed them when I was there in July. Behind the BROUGH stone there is one for BONNER. I'm re-checking my photos in case there is a photograph that might show s stone for the Douvilles. I added the BROUGHs to Find-A-Grave at that time but haven't gotten to the MARTINs yet. I walked through that area again last Sunday but still did not see Douvilles, but now that I have the additional info I will check again when I go back there. I will certainly let you know if I find them!

Hi Mark,

I wanted to let you know that I went to Saint Philips today but was unable to locate the Douville gravesite. Maybe the people at Saint John's will be able to provide more specific information on where the Douvilles are; if so, please let me know (as I mentioned before, Saint Philips is divided into sections, so if they can give you a section location it would narrow it down a lot). I go to Saint Philips on a regular basis because my parents, grandparents, and other family members are buried there, so I will be happy to continue searching.

Hi Mark,

Hopefully they will get back to you this week. I'm planning to go to the cemetery on Sunday if the weather is good, so it would be great to have that info.

Hi Mark,

The bio info you have for Eli is great info to include on a memorial page for him!

I will definitely let you know where the Douvilles are once I am able to locate them.

The great thing about Saint Philips cemetery, aside from the fact that it is relatively small, is that their sections are named and they have section markers similar to street signs, making it extremely easy to find your way around. I always include this information, once known, on any memorial pages I create for burials at Saint Philips.

RE: Vitaline Philomene Douville
Hi Mark,

Thank you for letting me know the correct spelling of Douville; I have fixed it. I thought it probably was spelled with an "i" but I transcribed the information from town records and the name was spelled with an "e" so that's how I entered it, but planned on verifying that once I went there to photograph the headstone. I plan on going back over to Saint Philips soon (hopefully this week) to photograph the stones of those for whom I've recently created memorial pages, so I will add photo(s) to Vitaline's page as soon as I have it. If there are others buried there with her, I will add memorials and photos for them as well.

Thank you again for the correction/updates!

Regards,
Katie

RE: Tisdale
Hi Mark,

I did some digging and discovered that you and I are both 11th generation Tisdale Descendents and I'm assuming and potentially distant cousins down the line. If I have it correct and I'm fairly certain of it, this should be your line....

John Tisdale Sr.
James Tisdale
James Tisdale Jr.
James Tisdale III
Captain Henry Tisdale
James Tisdale
Oileus Aurelis Tisdale
Henry William Tisdale
Frederick Tisdale
Then your mother
Yourself

I looked at some of these memorials on Find-A-Grave and was discouraged over the inaccuracies I found. They could be problematic for anyone else in the Tisdale clan searching for family... Several of the dates were incorrect as well as misspellings.
I read much of the Civil War Diaries today and it was truly fascinating. It's one thing to find grave locations and hear stories passed from generation to generation but nothing compares to reading the words written by the actual person. It takes you back in time and he was wonderfully descriptive.

Cheers,
Elizabeth

RE: Tisdale
Hi Mark,

It's so nice to meet a Tisdale descendent. We have only John Tisdale in common I believe. My line is John, Joseph, Joseph, Lovead, Lovead, Lovead, Leonard, John, George and Orville.
I wish I could assist you with the misspellings on your side, and in fact I noticed that Abigail's maiden name (Cheney) was incorrect, however I do not have ownership of that memorial.
Thank you so much for the link to your Granfather's civil war diary. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Elizabeth
