RE: Hansel Terry Godard
Thanks for the insights on Terry.

I always thought it interesting that my dad left Georgia. During the war, his ship was stationed in Long Beach, CA.

He and my mother were married in Warner Robins, GA just after the war ended. My dad wanted to fly and so stayed in the Navy. I have photos of John Jackson, his dad, visiting them in Pensacola, FL, where dad took his flight training. He left the Navy when it was clear to continue with flight training, he would have to do overseas duty. He would not do that and left the service.

Mother and dad moved to southern California shortly before I was born. My mom's parents followed them to California within a year.

To my knowledge, Dad never went back, even for a visit. Both parents were already dead, there was nothing there for him but heartache.

I have another question.

If Terry lived and worked in Richardson, Texas, and had no family, how did he get back to Lamar Co., Ga for burial? And do you know the cause of death?

RE: Hansel Terry Godard
Yes, Laura Belle is Ebb's mother. Johnson is his father. I found the family on the 1900 Monroe Co., GA census record. I did not unravel the initials for Johnson.

I had no idea Laura Louise committed suicide. Something was terribly wrong with that family, starting with Willie. My cousin, Lisa, was trying to find both Hansel Terry and Laura, but was unable to do so before her death in 2008. Do you know any other details about Laura, how old she was, where she lived?

To complete the picture ... my grandmother Obie married John Wesley Jackson. They had two children. When my dad left high school to join the Navy, in 1941, Obie went home, drank lye and died 10 days later. I already told you this part.

My grandfather, John Wesley Jackson, married his girl friend Marian, with whom he had already fathered a son. They had a second son and lived in Montezuma, Macon Co., GA. Their marriage must not have been a happy one, as John met Marian at the bus stop as she returned from a trip to Atlanta. He met her with a shot gun, killed her then turned the gun on himself. This happened in 1947.

RE: Hansel Terry Godard
Yes. My first cousin, Lisa Nelson Windham (who died of cancer in 2008) and I have tried to unravel Willie Terry's life for a number of years. We have tried to unravel our grandmother Obie's life as well.

Things like, why was Obie living with the Booth's and not her mother or father, who were both definitely alive??? And, just WHO are the Booth's that they refer to Obie as a niece.

Hansel Terry's mother, Willie Terry, married Robert Hobbs about 1906. Obie was born 1907 in Montezuma, Macon Co., GA. Obie married John Wesley Jackson and had two children, my father, and my cousin Lisa's mother.

When my father, Wesley Jackson, left to join the Navy in 1941, grandma Obie accepted her son's high school diploma, went home, drank lye, and died 10-days later.

Obie had been abandoned by her parents, her husband was having an affair and then her son left for the war. She must have been horribly unhappy.

I have no idea if Obie knew her half-brother, Hansel Terry, or half-sister, Laura Louise Godard. Lamar and Macon counties are not neighboring counties, so they may have not know each other.

Willie married Hansel Terry's father, Ebbie Willis Godard about 1920. Apparently Hansel and his sister, Laura, stayed close with their father's family as they are all buried at the Union Primitive Bapt Church Cemetery. Laura is apparently named after her grandmother, Laura Belle Willis Godard.

I suppose some things will always remain a mystery. Findagrave has been a great resource, as I have found sooo many of our kinfolk and because of folks like you, been able to make connections to other family members.

Thanks, Joanna, for what you have done in creating memorials. I only have about 85 memorials to my credit, but they are all family and have linked me to a great many others.

RE: Hansel Terry Godard
Thank you for the reply and the very kind words regarding Terry.

If you knew the overall history of the family, it is by God's grace that Terry should turn out to be such a wonderful man.

I am glad to know his life turned out so well. Apparently he never married, or did not stay married. This comes as no surprise considering the abandonment his older sister, my grandmother, experienced and her eventual suicide.

Their mother, Willie Terry Hobbs/Godard, had a terrible upbringing.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to reply.

Hansel Terry Godard
I am wondering if you have any information on Hansel's family that you can share?

Hansel's mother, Willie Terry Godard, is my great-grandmother through her first marriage to Robert Hobbs. They divorced. Their only child was Obie Hobbs, my grandmother.

A 1920 Macon Co., GA census has Obie, 11, living with John, 80, and Dara, 72, Booth, listed as their niece. They are both listed as born in England. Question: who are they? and why was Obie living with them??? instead of either her mother or father?

Willie probably married Ebbie Willis Godard about 1920-21, since Hansel is born in 1923.

Any information you have will be greatly appreciated.

RE: Transfer
I didn't notice there were two postings for that individual until after I transferred it. I believe the other one had his name misspelled and had no headstone pictures. If you want to transfer the headstone pictures to the other one and delete my entry, it won't hurt my feelings. Do whatever you think is best. Sincerely, Kathy

Perhaps you would also like to link Jennie to her parents' memorials James Fuller Terry 8085537 and Katherine Terry 8268644. That way her name would show on the their memorials along
with the names of other children.

RE: Lola Harris Jamerson
After further investigation, while this David Vinson is not the same David Jamerson that I thought it was, there is still a connection.

You mentioned you have pictures of the family, do you have any of David Vinson Jamerson? I understand he was not around much, which disappoints me because all the Jamerson's I know, are very family oriented but here is how this David Vinson Jamerson is related to me:

My mom's Grandfather, Paul Harris Jamerson, is the younger brother to David Roy Jamerson who is the Father of David Vinson. I knew and remember "Paw Paw Paul" very well but none of the others, however what intreges me is the Harris name connection and the resembliense.

Paul and David Roy's mother's maiden name was Harris, and further more my mother looks a lot like Lola Ruth Jamerson Proctor.

I apprecate your time and the info. I would love to have a few pictures and even am email address for Barbara if she has one. I would like to see if there is a relation to Abigail Grace Harris. Feel free to contact me at edznraez@yahoo.com

thanks again,

Eddie

RE: Lola Harris Jamerson
Thank you very much, so Barbara is still living in Denison? Is her last name still Scully?

My mother is Barbara Ann Jamerson, her father is Theodore Paul Jamerson, his father is Paul Harris Jamerson and his parents are David Jamerson and Abigail Harris.

I will have to do some more digging to confirm if they are the same David V Jamerson. It is the Lola Harris and Abigail Harris that makes me curious both marrying David Jamerson.

Most of the Jamerson family that I am related to were in the Hardware business. Do you know if this David Jamerson was in the hardware business?

again, thanks for all the info.

Correction on my last message
Sorry N.J. Too many David Jamerson's, in previous I said her husband was David Roy Jamerson, after further review looks like it was David Vinson Jamerson.

I need to look at this closer. I am just starting to work on my Jamerson heritage.

Any info you have to help clear things up for me would be greatly appprecaited.

thanks,

Eddie

Lola Harris Jamerson
N.J.

I noticed you added pictures of Lola Jamerson. Lola is my Great Great Aunt. Her Husband, David Roy Jamerson, would be the older brother or my Great Grandfather, Paul Harris Jamerson.

Are you related? I am curious to know about Lola maiden name. Harris would also be her mother-in-law's maiden name as well.

I would love to exchange family history with you.

My sister is going to Edna Texas next month to research some Jamerson history, from what I understand most of David's family settled there, while he settle in North Texas.

I hope we can help each other out.

thanks,

Eddie
