Btw she is my 3rd great grandmother and that's why I didn't remember her name off the top of my head. I never met her. I don't just leave random flowers claiming people to be my relatives. Sorry if my bad memory from four years ago bothered you. Lol

Bob, checked my photo files and do not have either one you are still searching for. Not to say they are not at Evergreen however. If you can verify they are there, will go back and check around some more. So many older ones are damaged and illegible.

Wondering if you have any information on the Snider family. I think that Essie's father was a brother to my great great grandmother Susan Snider Robbins. Would like to know more about the Snider side. Thanks.

Francis Caswell "Frank" Fry Memorial# 41237658
So interesting. I always had his name as Francis Crittenden Fry. I assuming I just got it from other people's trees because I can't now find a source for it. Do you have any idea where the Crittenden that is obviously going around? I'm curious where it started.

Richard E. Newby, Find A Grave Memorial# 67588430
Mr. Newby,

do you know anything of possible Army Air Corps service by Richard E. Newby? I am assembling a data base of men who served with 7th Bomb Group in India during WW2, and have the name of Lt. Richard E. Newby, B-24 Pilot, he was the recipient of the Air Medal, and is mentioned as having lived in Olympia WA at or around April 2000.

I would appreciate any info that you can offer.

Thank you.

RE: Frances C. Fry
that's ok, I do understand re: the name.
Re: my spouse's family - we've only been certain back to a Benjamin Franklin Fuller in Alabama. I think the Isham Fuller you refer to is in the line of Fullers that were in the Brush Creek area. I literally grew up on the farm next to the Fuller Hollow family farm in Brush Creek. I've not been able to link the Fullers in northern Alabama to the Fullers in Smith County.

Hi - I was looking for info on his granddaughter, Bernice, on the Genealogies section and just noticed it. I do not know who originated the info on the website and have no personal first-hand knowledge. B Fuller

John Newby - Newby Cemetary White County, IL
Hello Bobby,
Thank you for maintaining my GGG Grandfather John Newby's entry. I am very appreciative.
I have a mystery to solve. I found you and Wayne & Betty Newby through "Fallen Gravers, Memorial For" virtual cemetary by julia&keld. I just randomly clicked on a familiar name (Newby) in a long list of dedicated gravers to pay my respects.
Just by chance, we may be long lost cousins. :)
Here is my Newby family history with the mystery to follow.

My Great Great Grandmother was Mary E. Newby Tullis Birth: Mar.8,1834 White County, Illinois, USA Death: Aug. 15, 1915 Springerton,White County, Illinois, USA, Shrewsbury Cemetery, Millshoals, IL, USA, on 1 January 1850 in White Co IL, she married Alexander Wilson Tullis Birth: Mar. 9, 1826 Cupar, Fife, Scotland, Death: Dec. 31, 1898 Springerton, White County, Illinois, Shrewsbury Cemetery, Millshoals, IL, USA a School Teacher in Millshoals, IL.
Her parents were John Newby(1798-1843)Sumner, Smith County, Tennessee, USA - Newby Cemetery Millshoals, White County, Illinois, USA & Rebecca Simpson Newby (1802-1900) Henry County, Virginia, USA - Shrewsbury Cemetery, Millshoals, White County, Illinois, USA.
John Newby's parents were William "Billy" Newby (1774-1844)Amherst County, Virginia/Newby Cemetery (photo), Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA & 1st wife - Nancy Pryor Newby (1777-1799)* Louisa County, Virginia/Newby Cemetery, Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA.
2nd wife - Nancy Hankins Rowland Newby (1785-1865)* Pennsylvania, USA/Newby Cemetery, Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA.
*There are three "Unmarked" Crypts. It is thought that they contain William, Nancy & Nancy's remains - Newby Cemetery, Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA.
William's parents were Whaley Newby (1721-1796) Lancaster County, Virginia/Warren County
Tennessee, USA. Burial: Unknown Specifically: Burial In Tennessee & Elizabeth Thomson.

While compiling my Newby info to share with Wayne Newby, I discovered a mystery to solve.
There are 2 photos of Newby Cemeteries, White County, IL & Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA, one on John Newby's entry (WC, IL) & one William "Billy" Newby's entry (SC, TN) on Find A Grave. One is 3 stones on the ground grouped together (John's entry) (WC, IL) added by: Epy & the other (William's entry) (SC, TN) is a recently uncovered hand chiseled field stone bearing the name "W Newby" (backwards N) added by: John & Retta Waggoner.
This has me confused. The photo of 3 stones on John Newby's page is not labeled.
I have never heard of Newby Cemetery in White County, IL and am wondering if John Newby (photo of marked stone) is actually buried in Shrewsbury Cemetery in Millshoals, White County, IL.
I am also wondering if the photo labeled (Hand engraved fieldrock Newby Cemetery
Smith County, Tennessee) of the stone "W Newby" (backwards N) on William "Billy" Newby's entry is actually his Father, Whaley Newby's grave, with William being buried where originally thought, with his wives Nancy Pryor Newby & Nancy Hankins Rowland Newby, in the three "Unmarked" Crypts.
This has put me on a mission.
I plan to contact the posters/keepers of the entries & photos and a cousin who lives next to Shrewsbury Cemetery to see if I can shine some light on the mystery.
I also plan to go there myself, gather info and take photos to add to existing family entries. Wish me luck. :)
Can you help with the question about Newby Cemetery, White County, IL?

Added info as requested, updated Augusta's memorial with the additional info as well.

If you would like them transferred to your care, it would be my pleasure.

I added a photo of the section they are in since their graves are unmarked.

RE: James Newby # 62119638
Thanks so much for researching this, Bob. I'm glad I made the error so I could "meet" you!

The Newby connection to my family is through Dixie Newby, my ex-husband's paternal grandmother. I've been working on the family tree for our son, who's 24 years old.

We live in western North Carolina, where a LOT of families passed through on the Great Wagon Road on their way westward. Makes it difficult sometimes to get things straight.

Thank you, again...I'm going to try the Civil War rosters now.

Take care,
Marti Spilman Utter

I will hang on to her. I hope all the research I have done on the memorials will connect them to family. Sadly I have a few that I was not able to find any information on.

Bob, I added the link to her parents. Would you like for me to transfer this memorial to you? Maybe the 51714674 Memorial could be deleted.

Thank you for the information ... Two months spent photographing the entire cemetery, and it's great to know the memorials are being seen :)

Let me know if you want Henry and Josephine transferred to you.
