Hello - thank you for your work with find a grave. I would like to ask that you add a name to my grandparents' sites - Ollie F(Freeze) Tapp and Ralph Benjamin Tapp (numbers above) have a son Joseph Louis Tapp - born 11-12-27 and died 3-2-12 in Pikeville NC.
this would make their records more complete, as they had the two sons (my dad & my uncle).

Thank you so much.

Connie Fisher
Owens Cemetery
The cemetery in which you have Benjamin Moore Owens (sic) 1843-1802 buried is actually the Howard Cemetery. It was called the Ben Howard cemetery, a descendant of Starkey, when I was growing up nearby. Benjamin Moore Owens is actually Bennett M. Owens, son of Newett Drew Owens Sr. See Bennett age 17 in his father's household in 1860 in Saratoga Twp, Wilson Co. I would be very interested in obtaining your source for his Moore middle name. Thank you. Connie Fisher

Manilla Rae Cayton Ensley
She did not have a sister named Martha. My great-grandmother's name was Jennie Viola Cayton(Caton) Wayne. The spelling for the last name is dependent upon who put the name in the Bible. Thanks

No problem! I am currently surveying the entire Maplewood Cemetery and I ran across him in the same plot as his parents and lots of other family members.

Hello Jenny!

You have made photos for the Stancill Cemetery. I am showing duplicates of some of those memorials at Gum Swamp FWC Cemetery & was wondering if they are in fact two separate cemeteries or if they are side by side, possibly. If you know, could you let me know before I completely delete duplicates? I would appreciate it greatly!

Thank you!

Donna Strother Deekens
William Carey Strother
Hi Jenny (and anyone else who may be able to lend assistance)!,

I am doing research and writing a book on William Carey Strother (Bill Strother), who listed his home as Stantonsburg, NC, from about 1910 - 1930s. His father was Simon Strother and his mother was Alice Eason Strother, and they are buried in the Stantonsburg Town Cemetery. (You posted a photo of their monument.) Son Bill was known as "The Human Spider" (and in some cases, "The Human Fly"), climbing buildings throughout the US and Canada from 1917 - 1930, for charity and corporate promotions. He became quite famous and even co-starred with comedian Harold Lloyd in the classic silent film, "Safety Last!" in 1923 ~ he can be seen in the long shots scaling a building. Following his climbing career, he was a popular Santa Claus for the downtown Richmond, VA Miller & Rhoads department store from 1942 - 1956. I visited him as a child when he was Santa,, and my father always said we were related. Indeed, my sister has traced our ancestry and has discovered that we do come from the same Strother line. Tragically, Bill was killed in an automobile accident in Hollywood, CA, in 1957. I am looking for his grave site, and was hopeful that he and his wife are buried with his parents in Stantonsburg, but it doesn't look like that is the case. I am thrilled to find this monument of his parents, however, and I am looking for any other information that sheds light on his early years in Stantonsburg. He climbed buildings in Wilson, Fayetteville, Winston-Salem and Raleigh as well. Any information you or any of the readers seeing this can give would be greatly appreciaed. My book is scheduled to be released in October, 2014, just in time for Christmas. I am on a tight deadline, so any photos, recollections of Bill climbing, etc. would be great! I understand that the First Baptist Church in Stantonsburg has a house behind the church that is used for church offices, called "The Strother House," and I have left several messages for someone to call me back to see if it is perhaps the Strother "homeplace," but no one has returned my calls. If anyone knows about that as well, I would be pleased to hear from you! Thank you so much for your kind assistance and interest in this fascinating project! Donna Strother Deekens, (804) 240-8436.

George Washington Bowen
Just a note to let you know that G.W. Bowen was a Confederate Marine during the Civil War, and had served aboard the CSS INDIAN CHIEF and the CSS COLUMBIA at Charleston harbor. His brother, Henry Hunter Bowen (for whom there is also a FIND A GRAVE entry) had also been a Confederate marine, and had also served on the CSS COLUMBIA.
