|Vivian Mills||RE: Anna Johanne Christensen (31190705)|
Here is what I know about Ane Johanne's daughter:
Her full name at birth was Johanne Sørine Kristine Petrine Jensen Olsen-a big name for a little girl. She was born in 1881 in Klarup, Aalborg, Denmark and was sent with another family at age six-as their daughter-to the USA. That would have been in 1887. I do not know the name of the family, the ship or their destination. She was too young to write home to tell anyone where she went. She was never heard from again. This is probably futile; but somewhere, someone knows about her...
Thanks for all your help.

|Nancy ||James Con Hall|
The following was written by my Aunt Pearl Lewis Welty:
"One real cold winter a man by the name of Jim Hall was going to town in the sled with his team. He froze to death sitting there on that seat all humped over. I don't remember how cold they said it was. Sometimes people had to get off and walk beside the team to get warmer. There was a saying that 'if you started to become warmer, you were going to freeze.' That is, if you just sat still. When he was found he was taken to Asa Hall's place. Those days you took care of you own dead. They didn't have to be taken to a funeral home.
Pop [Josephus Lewis] went there that night to 'sit up' with the family (He went ot visit folks day or night, just to talk with them or help in anyway he could.) Jim Hall was put just off the front room 'tied' down on some planks which were on sawhorses. They were trying to thaw him out. Well, this particular night when Pop was there, and all was rather quiet in the middle of the night, (the door between only had a curtain on it.) Jim 'thawed' out. His legs went down on the planks, the 'rattled', and made a noise. That must have been scary, all right. Pop said, 'Whet it happed, Lois Hall, who was Asa's wife, jumped out of her chair 'scared to death'. I think that would have been a scare, all right.
I'm just telling this to show what terrible cold winters there were in eastern Montana long ago.
Later Jim Hall's wife, Rosie, married my uncle Isaac Lewis. Think I mentioned having church services in the home of Jim and Roxie Hall over by Mona."

Dear Leann, thank you so much for offering to send me the obituary of Irene Laubenstein - I would love to have a copy.
Added by Heide Becker on Jan 21, 2013 6:09 PM
That would be wonderful to say the least. I hope to get one of his closer relatives involved in Find A Grave. If successful, I'll pass the Memorial on. The obituary should be most helpful. Many thanks for your dedication and generosity.
