RE: birthdate of 2nd greatgrandfather John Goley
Thanks for letting me know the source. I'm still not quite sure that date is correct. Hoping to be able to make a trip back to North Carolina next year to search places I can't find on line and see if I can pin a birth date down...Sherrie Goley

birthdate of 2nd greatgrandfather John Goley
Hi Polly, thanks for putting the Goley's on find a grave. The birthdate you have for John Goley, Dec 16 1816, I can't seem to find any supporting evidence for. Did you find that date either on his grave monument or in Holly Springs Friends Cemetery records?
His parents William "Will" Gorley and Mary "Polly" Euliss Gorley were married 20 May 1819. That means that either John was born before his parents were wed or Will had a wife before Polly and that wife was John's mother. I would appreciate any information on this that you might be able to provide...thanks, Sherrie Goley Fields

Hi, I hope I did the edits right for this family. Lewis Steven Allen was Minnie's son not husband. I think her husband was also Lewis Steven Allen, but in 1940 Census he wasn't in the home, just Minnie and 2 sons. Lewis and Harvey. Thanks,

Della Lilly
ADKINS, Lucinda (Queen) - Memorial 93369286
Hi Cousin Polly,

Hope all is well with you and your family members. As for me, so far, so good. -- My computer is really, really old and seldom works and, when it does,it is sooooo slow, I can't really do much.

Have a favor to ask of you - Re. Lucinda (Queen) Adkins, W/O Steward Adkins, Greasy Ridge Cemetery: Would you please change her biography to read:
Daughter of Absalom Queen and Miriam (Queen) Queen?

She was born 9-21-1889 at Kiahsville, WV, (per her delayed birth certificate, which she requested in 1954, it shows her address as Kiahsville, WV; parents as Absalom Queen & Miriam Queen; and she signs it as "Lucinda (Queen) Adkins, Kiahsville, WV (also, Mother & Daddy knew both Lucinda & Steward and who their parents were).

To date, I have found only the birth record for Lucinda Queen (born 9-4-1886), D/O Walter & Milly/Millie Queen, and have found no other records for her .. I'll keep "lookin'". Please keep in touch.

Love You Girls,
Cousin Della

Thank you for taking my msg. A question if I may... I just started researching the Greene family of Randolf county, NC.

My primary interest are the families of David and William Greene's elders and descendants. Find-a-Grave have a limited amount in the obituaries posted which I have.

Any suggesting/recommendations well be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you,

RE: Re: Nellie Mashburn Hemric
'Tis a puzzlement!
You are right, it says Mashburn.
Plus, I've found her as Mashburn in her son's obit. (
But the marriage license clearly says Self.
Generally I like puzzles, but I do prefer ones I can solve!

Martha Marie Hegwood
I noticed you took a picture of her headstone at Spoons Chapel Christian Church back in 2010. What relation are you to her. I'm trying to find out as much as I can about Marie. I believe that she had a child with my father back in 1939, but the only thing I can find out about this child is a birth certificate at the Randolph County Register of deeds. The child was not named. I do not know if the child died, was given away or raised by another family member. This child was born on 04-02-39. He would be my half brother. Can you help me?

Hi, you have a photo posted for Archibald Pruett in the Maxwell Cemetery. This headstone is for his son Arch and his wife Mary Elizabeth Rimmer. Arch Senior's wife's name was Elizabeth Brewster. Could you please switch the photo to the correct memorial? Thanks

Patzie Harris Wenchel
possible relative of mine
Polly, Hi, my name is Patzie (Harris) Wenchel and I've been trying to research my paternal grandmother's side. There is little known of her family. I believe the Martha that you listed here may be my great grandmother: Martha Francis Hagerman Harris? But, it states she was consort of Franklin Harris? I thought her husband would of been Daniel Harris, but I don't know this for a fact. My father's middle name is a double name "John" for his father and "Franklin" which I'm now thinking was his mother's family name back a few generations. Here's how it goes " Nella Harris", Martha Frances Hagerman Harris, Lucinda Fields Harris, Edith Franklin Harris.
Does any of this mean anything to you? Thanks very much for your time and consideration in addressing this.

Hi Polly,
I found this grave today at St Paul Cemetery. I added a photo of the marker I found for Quincie and her husband Milton. Some markers have been added to previously unmarked graves. I believe the group that cares for the building and grounds have marked the graves. She sleeps in an unmarked grave no more!
