Hi Shirley,

I guess you have a connection to Floyd, so here's his funeral record, which includes a long obituary:

I am a Rakers descendant. My dad was Bernard Raker Jr., my grandpa was Bernard Rakers Sr., my great grandfather was Henry Rakers Sr and Maria Rakers is my great great grandmother. How are you related to the Rakers and where did you find the picture of Maria Rakers?

RE: Abraham Kouns
How are we related?

Well, if you are a descendant of Abraham Rice Kouns, he was my 1st Cousin 4x removed on my Kouns family side.

His father (Abraham Kouns) was a brother to my 3rd Great-Grandfather Christian Kouns. That makes him my 4x Great Uncle.

Their father being John L. Kouns, my (and yours) 4x Great Grandfather (4x for me).

Thanks for keeping these pages up! Let me know if I can ever help with your research.

Francis D. Ward
Good morning Shirley.

I am Francis' eldest daughter and I have been researching our genealogy. I was told as a child that we have Cherokee blood, but I have since learned that isn't true. I have been looking for any information about my dad.

I know that he was born in Illinos, but have been unable to find a birth certificate. Any information you have would be of great value to me.

Thank you!

Eulas Ford
Hi Shirley. I received your email about the wrong parents being listed for this Eulas Ford memorial 98486915. You are correct when you save the facts are confusing. Not knowing what else to do I just removed his parents name from the memorial. If you'd like to supply me with the correct parent memorials to link to him I'd be happy to do so. It's best for all if all these memorials are correct as possible. Thanks for the heads up on the error. Sylvia Ford

RE: Frank Weisshaar @ StL Calvary
Actually, it is spelled Weishaar, 47055105.

I have submitted a correction, to Weisshaar, but it was the cemetery that spelled it wrong in the first place.

RE: Margaret Heidker
It was no problem. I revel in these little challenges. Sometimes, there's no answer and sometimes there is - this time, it was pretty easy once I figured out a couple of things. :0)

re: Margaret Heidker
It took a while to locate Ms. Heidker because her name was misspelled in the cemetery records as "Heickler".

The mausoleum in which she rests, as I indicated on the picture caption, is condemned, therefore, I'm not allowed to enter for pictures. A family member may have her removed by cemetery personnel for reburial.

Thank you for Glatha Sayers obituary. It has been posted on her memorial page and I put your name at the end saying where it came from. Hope that was okay.

I so very much appreciate your sharp eye. I think I got this information from Iowa Gravestone Project and am deeply sorry if it sent people off in the wrong direction. Thanks again

Phyllis (Porter) Zegers
Alice Copsey Booker Davis (1864ish-1947)
Hi, My name is Phyllis Zegers. I see from Find-A-Grave that Alice Copsey Booker Davis (1864ish-1947) may be in your family tree. She was the daughter of Onias Copsey and Mary Herndon. Alice died on 7/7/1947 at the Oregon State Hospital in Salem, Marion County, Oregon. I have recently updated a memorial for her on  Here’s the URL:

The memorials provides her death certificate, a biography and information about the location of her ashes. Her cremains are being held at the Oregon State Hospital and can still be claimed by a relative - no matter how distant. I have an interest in those like Alice who died at an Oregon institution and whose cremains have not yet been taken by the family. My hope is to let relatives know where the cremains are now in case they would like to claim them. The link to the state department in charge of the cremains is

On YouTube there is a trailer for a documentary video that explains the situation with the ashes:

Please let me know if you have any questions.
