RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 46497124

I'm not related. Many people do not feel comfortable using living people's names.

Here's how they deal with it.

"Survived by mother; two brothers; three sisters and several grandchildren". They just drop all given names.

You can do the same with the Rev.'s name by changing it to "the Pastor or Preacher of the First Christian Church, Garden City, officiating."

I hope it help you.

Phoebe Ann Hopkins
Would you, for me, please clarify the mystery of Phoebe's last husband's surname? Was it Osborne or Ausman? If it was Ausman, when and how did she learn the truth? It makes for an interesting story. He enlisted in the civil war as Ausman, married (1879) and lived with Phoebe through at least the 1892 NYS census as Osborne and apparently had a son in 1882, who eventually became Floyd Ausman. Her gravestone lists her as Ausman. Christopher's CW Pension Application listed him as "Ausman, Christoper (alias) (Osborn, Christopher)" Harry

Sharon Brevoort
Abner Hopkins (1767-1843)

Thanks for the update on Abner Hopkins. I have added the new information to his memorial page.

In this cemetery, I read all of the stones that I was able to move and included that information in each person's memorial. I also checked the "Cemetery Inscriptions of Saline Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan," compiled by the Genealogical Society of Washtenaw County, Michigan, Inc., and no other gravestones were found in this cemetery that bore the Hopkins surname as of their reading in July, 1982.

'Hope this helps.

- Sharon
