Jerry & Margaret Stockton
Hi ~ I am curious if you are related to Jerry and Margaret Stockton (children - Loren, Tillie, Mamie)???? Reason why I am asking is because you might be able to fill in a mystery to me. I am researching my Great Great Grandpa (Silas Edward Vanderhoof) and in the 1880 census it has him living with the family above along with others (Evinger Dangler, James essener, William Steveson and Robert Sholvin). I am curious in your family paperwork if you have why they had these people living with them?????? Just trying to figure out why he left NY to Terre Haute, Indiana & what he did there and who he was with?????? It does give him an occupation as a nail feeder?????

Any info you might have that you could share with me I would Very much appreciate.
Thank You!!!!!

Will of Daniel Stockton
Thank you for so thoughtfully posting both the will and then a copyable text of the will. I greatly appreciate it. Not everyone has access to documents such as this. Very kind of you to take the time to do both aspects.

Would you mind taking a look at memorial 130625896 and if you could, letting me know who his parents are? I wasn't sure if they were the Abigale and William in Stockton Cemetery. Thanks

RE: Abigail Stockton
Jerry, I did see that you are very prolific on researching the Stocktons. You've done a fabulous job! Unfortunately, the information I have is through a great-aunt by marriage. She told me when she sent me all this information that everything was "verified" but she did not tell me how. She is no longer available to ask questions of as she is extremely elderly. So, I guess the short answer is no, I don't have verification of Abigail's maiden name. I wish I did. I apologize for not being sure and of course, you are right to not add it if it not verified. Shoot. I thought I was helping. I have a lot on Stockton's but you already have most of it so I have nothing new to input. At least, nothing verifiable.

Well, good hunting and keep up the good work. 40 years of service is something to be very proud of!

Jerry, I found a book in the Clinton County Library, written by Jack Ferguson, called Early Times in Clinton County. I am sure you have probably come across it yourself.

I have found some errors, especially the lineage showing Davis as a son of Richard of NJ, which we now know is not the case.

In the lineage, Jesse Stockton Sr (1782-1872) is listed as the son of John and Margaret Stockton, but it is not John Smith Creek Stockton. The John listed as Jesse's father is the one who married Margaret Barnes, who died in Tennessee. The children of this John and Margaret were: Rachel, Nathaniel, Jesse, Elizabeth, John, Michael, Thomas B, Samuel C, Davis, Jemima, and Daniel.

I noticed you mention a deed, showing Jesse as the heir to John Smith Creek. Did this deed actually show which John it was? Do you have a copy?

Thanks in advance for your help. I would love to know who my real 5th great-grandfather is!

Richard R. Stockton
Noticed that the death certificate for Richard R. indicates his father's name as Richard R. also. However, this program indicates George and Elizabeth "Bettie" Stockton were the parents. I also noticed that they have his mother's name as Bettie Means. Think the death certificate was completed in error?

Isabel Newberry Stockton
Thank you for changing her death date. I appreciate it. I have more pages from that Bible if you are a direct descendant. I would be happy to share it with you. I noticed that you guessed at her birth date. The Bible also has that. It is listed as May 9 1807. Actually I have records from 2 different Stockton Family Bibles with her DOB and DOD.

Requesting help with Irwin/Welchel lines
Hi Jerry. I'm actually not family of Irwin/Welchel but am attempting to help another member. I am finding two separate memorials for Mary Irwin Welchel. One has having a previous name of Mock but still links her to a Davis Welchel. One says Mary and Davis were buried on the family farm in the Welchel family cemetery which has since been destroyed and the other says they are located in Highland Cemetery which is near to where I live. Can you please shed some light on this for me. You've even made a comment on one of the children's memorials that is linked to the Mary Mock Welchel memorial which states he was raised by his step-mother Sally.

Henrietta Hall McNeely
Jerry, I just received your SAC and have added the link for Henrietta's mother to the memorial. I saw the photos you added and they are wonderful additions. The only pictures I had ever seen of any of the family were one of Dr. Hall and his daughter Henrietta that are located at the Hall house here in Salisbury, NC.

I actually was thrilled to see that someone had found out where her mother was buried, and the names and birth and death dates of her other siblings. I had looked everywhere that I was able to and couldn't find that information. Even the staff at the Hall house museum didn't really have any information on Henrietta (Stockton) Hall other than to be able to say that she died in Missouri and may have had another child besides Henrietta and Stockton. So seeing the additional information on the "missing" family members is wonderful.

Are you related to Henrietta and her mother through the Stockton side of the family? If you are, please let me know and I will be more than happy to transfer the memorials for Henrietta and her husband, father and step mother over to you.

Just let me know what you would like done.

Maus Family
Hi, I was about to add some people & birth & death deaths to the Paris Plains Church Cemetery when I noticed you had an entry. I do have lots of Maus names that could be entered but interest in Jairus B. Maus & his first marriage on 15 Feb. 1841 to a Catharine Lamberton who died March 4, 1846 & buried here. They had one son, Orrin. Do you have any knowledge of this family?

Mary Field Stockton b1766 Burlington Co., NJ
Are you related?

A tea canister with Mary Stockton's name on it is in the private collection of Paul Cahn of St. Louis. It also has her grandmother's name Lydia Peel (Peale), her mother's name Mary Field, her daughter's name Mary Harrison, her granddaughter's name Mary ? and great granddaughter Mary Kane.

It is currently in the Minneapolis Institute of Art and will be traveling to museums in Kansas City, St. Louis & Williamsburg.

I live in Minneapolis and there is a photo of it in our newspaper.
