Early family
I added a photo of little Bertha Early buried in Hill Grove. I have original pictures if you want them. I am not related to them. My husband's ggm was married to David. They had no children. Her name was Minnie May Weidle. I think this picture of Bertha was a rare find seeing she died so young.

Deirdre
RE: Mary Thoma Memorial at Calvary Cemetery
Dear Cheryl,

I thought you might find it interesting to read about the removal of remains from the city's first cemetery, St. Henry's, to Calvary and the fact that --apparently-- families who claimed ancestors' remains would bury them in newly purchased plots in Calvary, deeper than normal, and then bury the later generations on top. This is interesting reading and it might explain the location of several decedents in one plot.

Copy this link into your browser and click on it to read about this history:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~grannyapple/CALVARYcemetery/CALVARYcemHOME.html

(Alternatively, you can do a search on the internet for "Calvary Dayton St Henry removal of remains", which is how I found the information.

Hope you find this interesting.

Deirdre

I transferred all your family to you. I am so happy when family finds my memorials and takes them home. If I add anymore let me know. I will be spending a lot of time at Hillgrove when this rain stops. Don't know if you have ever been there, but it is a large, very hilly cemetery with a lot of buried stones, which I love to dig up.

No problem. Mostly in Darke County, I take photos of the whole cemetery and add them. Most of the people, I do not know, so I am more than happy to hand them over to someone who does.

RE: David and Elizabeth Early
I STILL NEED TO PUT THE PIC OF THE BASE ON. YOU WILL WONDER HOW THIS HAPPENED...BUT...THE BASE IS ABOUT 15FEET FROM THE STONE AND ON A STEEP HILL. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE TOP FELL OFF AND ROLLED DOWN HILL...WELL IT DIDN'T. THE STONE IS UPHILL SETTING BETWEEN 2 OTHER STONES...???? THIS IS A HUGE STONE...HOW DID IT GET UPHILL???? I AM GOING TO TALK WITH WADE AND SEE IF I CAN GET THEM RE-UNITED...LOL

I will delete my memorial. The pic had to be before 1910 because dau Sarah Jane is in it and she died in 1910, son David is top row 2nd from left. My guess is 1907-1910. I am sure it was taken in Miamisburg. Of the two girls I would guess that the one on the left is Mary Catherine, she looks the youngest to me. 12 years between the 2 girls.

Just wanted to let you know that I also added Levi F. and Carl G. Warner. They were next to John and Mamie Hocker and had the same style stone as the Hocker infant. I thought they might be related since Mamie's maiden name is Warner. If you would like me to transfer these to you, just let me know. I would be happy to do it!

I found an infant next to Mamie and J. Wesley Hocker. She doesn't have a name. It just says "daughter of..." I will add her with a picture and transfer her over to you. Have a great day!!
