RE: Nancy Jane Cox
Thanks Donnie. That's very interesting indeed and great deductive reasoning to support the date.

My date of 1849 came from a transcription of the cemetery completed by the local historical society in the late 70's that I found in the Evans Public Library in Vandalia, Fayette County. Nancy Jane's birth date came from one of our family bibles that was most likely owned by Zipporah Ann (listed at Theodora Ann in that same 1850 census), the oldest living daughter. I am a direct descendant of Thomas and Elizabeth Cox so Nancy Jane was my Great Grand Aunt.

I guess the best answer is going to be to suck it up and really hunt through the overgrown cemetery to see for myself what the stone actually has on it. I'll be able to add a record for the other 2 siblings buried there as well.

Thanks again for all of your work on these cemeteries. It's wonderful to see!

Brett

Nancy Jane Cox - New Hope - Effingham County, IL
Hi Donnie,

I noticed that you added a record for Nancy Jane Cox - 110499746 - in New Hope, Effingham County, IL. Your record shows a slightly different year of death than what I have in my records. I have her dying 30 Apr 1849 at the tender age of 5. Nancy Jane was the first child of Thomas and Elizabeth (Jackson) Cox.

Were you able to find her grave marker and that's where your data came from? I visited New Hope about two years ago and wasn't able to navigate the overgrowth to find her marker or her other young siblings (Albert Gallington Cox & Emily Jane Cox) that are buried there.

I was just curious if you had found the stone so I can correct my details if they are wrong.

Thanks!

Photo of the Kimberlin sisters and their husbands
I would like to correct the names on your photo of the Kimberlin sisters and their husbands.

Back row from left: Sarah Elizabeth Kimberlin Travis, Lydia Angeline Kimberlin Davidson, and Martha Kimberlin Harrington

Front Row: William H. Travis, Joseph H Davidson, David Harrington, Margaret Henderson Kimberlin (before she married Hancock).

The story is that their sister Mary Emily Kimberlin Mabe was going to be coming on her way to Texas with her husband's family. The sisters wanted a photo to give her to remember them.

RE: Grissom stone in Oakwood
Hi Donnie - I replied to you but am not sure it went thru. Yes, I would love to have Mattie Grissom transferred to me. She is my gr-grandmother. If you got the photo of her online, it would've been downloaded by someone from my ancestry.com tree. It's nice that it's there. I will also create a memorial for her husband, my gr-grandfather Edwin Grissom. Thanks so much - Juanita Allen

RE: Grissom stone in Oakwood
Hi Donnie - thanks for quick reply. You can check out my family tree on ancestry.com - Wright-Allen Family Tree is the name. I am glad you know you have an album with her photo and am wondering what others you may have that I don't. Yes, would love to also manage Edwin's memorial page as they are on the same stone. Their daughter Maude Grissom Gilmore is buried in Morley, Missouri. My brother is today enroute to Gilmore reunion and taking photos for me to create memorials here. I live in Hawaii. You can also check out my facebook page - on the cover of it is the Grissom family photo showing all the children except Edwina who lived less than 2 yrs. Maude is on the far left.
Thanks so much, Juanita Wright Allen

Grissom stone in Oakwood
Hi Donnie - My family is enroute to a reunion today and stopping at all the family cemeteries to take pictures. I just found that you have entered a memorial for my great-grandmother Mattie Reilly Grissom in Oakwood Cemetery, Hickman Co. Ky. Are you related? If not, could you please transfer this to me? I see you posted a photo of her on the memorial - am thinking you may have gotten that from my tree on ancestry.com - the Wright-Allen Family Tree. I also note that her daughter Maude Grissom (my grandmother) is not listed among her children on your memorial.
Thanks, Juanita

Thrisce Blackshear
Donnie,
How did you figure out the birth and death date of Thrice Blackshear? I had a cemetery record that claims his birth date is 1884 and his death in 1875 (that is impossible). But when I went to the cemetery, I couldn't find his headstone. How were you able to confirm the dates?

Thanks for providing more details allowing me to update the memorial. My Mother was an Atchison, but I just wasn't sure of the corresponding family members. Thanks for all you contribute to ensure a better experience for Find-A-Grave members and users. Added you to my friends if that is okay.

thanks for you entry on Leroy Giles but there is no Beasley Cemetery in Pine Castle Florida. He may have lived, farmed and died in Pine Castle as the rest of the Giles family but they are all burried at Greenwood Cemetery. I live in Pine Castle and there just is no such cemetery. Sorry.
