Thank You Donna, you're the best! I posted the information on F/B, and even though our extended family is spread out across the country, we all remember this little cemetery. It is nice to know, after all this time, that these people do have a name and a history. Thanks again for providing information for an answer to what seemed like an unanswerable question!

I know this is far fetched, but I'm really curious. Would you happen to have any general information about a small cemetery located on Forbes St. in the n. end of the city? It is over-grown and I can't make out any details from looking at maps on the internet. I've looked through New Bedford directories for information, I can't find any listing, it is just a family plot near a house on the side of the street.

This link is from Google maps:,-70.9340129,3a,90y,180.13h,74.32t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1so3aFCUnNCU2TaRkbRwv95g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Thank You

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to verify Sarah's record. On Ancestry they just put an index card only record on but unfortunately you can't look at the index card. I would like to verify that name, etc on the card sometimes when it looks questionable. I am pretty good at deciphering handwriting. Thank you again for your help. Judi Schoonover

Thanks for responding. Just found it odd to find a record on Ancestry that shows Sarah E Betterson marrying Henry Packard on the same date, same place. Thanks, Judi Schoonover

Yes, my brother keeps fetting the run around from the company that is supposed to fix their mistake. Thanks for checking.

You're welcome. I own a copy of the Bosworth Genealogy by Mrs. Mary Bosworth Clarke. Using the genealogy, coupled with all the available records on Ancestry and Family Search, I can usually figure out the line of descent. If you come across any more Bosworths in your travels, I'll be happy to take a look.

I know it's hard to tear ourselves away from this sometimes. Don't work yourself too hard! Thanks! Janet

Have 5 George H Howland's on my data base - sometimes its almost impossible to find the correct one - the dates on the headstones have helped me immensely - Thanks for adding files to Find A Grave

Charles P. Maxfield 129388719
It looks like his last name should be spelled Maxfeld. That is also the way it is spelled on his daughter's grave stone.

RE: Isaac House
Thanks for contacting me. I haven't done any research on the House family for some time and would not have known when and where my gggreat-uncle had died. Appreciate your willingness to do this. Unfortunately a few on F.A.G. wouldn't have done so. Again, thank you.

Isaac House
Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you; but, am in the process of moving.

I am almost certain that your memorial is the correct one. Since Isaac's father was a Methodist minister also, I would say that this is the same man. I'm glad to know when he died and where he is buried.

Since he is my gggrandfather's brother, I would like to maintain his memorial. I will correct mine and if you would add your picture, I would be very greatful. Thank you.

My brother contacted the company that did the engraving and they will fix the date problem when the weather warms up and will clean the stone too. Thanks for calling attention to the mistake!

D J-

Thanks for your message. I hadn't visited Horatio's memorial page since I created it in 2011, and now, within the past fortnight, both you and another graver contacted me about it. The search engine isn't always reliable, as an already existing memorial may not turn up if non-established info is added to the search page, so I hadn't been aware of the one created in 2008. I'm not a "duper", and appreciate the heads up.

Best regards,

Thanks for transferring Susie and Amy to us. I also want to thank you for noticing the DOD for Susie. When we visited the gravestone several years ago, we noticed that Susie and Amy had never been added to the stone so my brother made arrangements to have that done. We had never seen the end result(we all live in Maine now)and didn't know of the mistake until you pointed it out. I plan to add Amy's(Fanny to us) and Charles' story at some point. He was a whaling captain and she was on the ship-iced in at Herschel Island in the Artic- when he died. She kept him on ice all winter, brought him back to San Francisco where he was embalmed, and then brought him by train back to New Bedford for burial. She and Susie(a widow early also) raised my grandfather as his parents died from tuberculosis when he was quite young.

Photos for Webb Ancestors
Thank you so much for adding the photos of the gravestones for my Webb Ancestors in New Bedford. I would like to add information to the pages, i.e., the names of their wives and children, when & why they died, and that sort of thing, if it's OK. How do I go about doing that? It would be helpful for other genealogists who may not have the informaiton. thank you! Toni Ryan (
