Elizabeth Missouri Weathersby
MsMarion left you a message that “the 1860 census is rarely accepted for linage proof because it did not list the relationship to head of household.” This is true and that is why I have not expanded my Weathersby lineage until now.
In about 1960, 56 years ago, I became aware that my parents talked a lot about kinfolk while sitting around the dining room table, and when my aunts and uncles came to visit. At an early age while living in California I became interested in our family and the history of our family trees.
I sat down with my mother years ago and ask her dozens of questions about our family. She told me her father’s mother was Elizabeth Missouri Weathersby. I wrote all of the names down on paper and when I moved to the Chattanooga, Tennessee area years later, I began to research our extended family with the information I had. There was no internet or personal computers then just micro-film and a genealogy book I bought of empty family pages.
I will skip to now. As a member of I joined the DNA program and the results have been remarkable. It has provided me with direct information about my linage with the Weathersby’s. MsMarion may not be my direct ancestor but the Weathersby’s are my kinfolk. With Family Tree Maker and I have proven evidence that Elizabeth Missouri Weathersby of Lawrence County Mississippi is my great grandmother, and her father Duncan is my great-great grandfather.
So I said all of this to say, “Thank You Very Much” for listing the census evidence in Find A Grave. I realize you did a great deal of work to do so. Charles Tyler

1860 US Federal Census
You left a message on my Find A Grave contributor page regarding using this census to prove parentage. The 1860 census is rarely accepted for lineage proof because it did not list the relationship to head of household. This census plus additional documentation can be used in preponderance of evidence analysis. The Find a Grave person you wrote me about is not my direct ancestor so I have no need or interest in placing them in a specific family line.

Elizabeth Missouri Weathersby
Duncan Weathersby (1816) is the father of my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Missouri Weathersby (1842-after 1900) She is listed as Missoura. The 1860 Federal Census Mississippi, Lawrence, Monticella shows her listed as the first child. Could you please add her to Duncan and Elmyra list of children?
If any questions please contact me.

Robert Richard Berry Memorial # 91097287
You may know this already.

Robert Richard Berry is listed in the 1930 Census, taken in April, in Columbia, Marion, MS. He is Head of household, lives on Church Street, owns his home, is employed as an Insurance Agent, listed 65 yrs old. His daughter, Gay Lavern, and grand-daughter, Gloria J. live with him. I put this information on his Memorial page.

I also found a Death Certificate for Gay Lavern listing Robert and Laura as her parents.

RE: George Washington Crider

You are very welcome.

According to the posts on the genealogy site, I believe a couple of people are going to try to visit the cemetery shortly. They are going to try to find his grave and take a photo of his gravestone, etc.

Albert G. Allen
Hi Ann,

My name is Roger Allen, I'm the son of Virgil Allen Jr. I've been doing our family research and find your information very informative. I've gone back as far as Albert G. Allen Sr. Talked to my dad and mom and they told me that you are the sister of Helen. I want to bring something to your attention that you may not be aware of. During my research I noticed that the birth date and the death date of Gus Allen(Helen's husband) and Albert Allen Sr are both the same except the 100 years difference....Both born Feb 23 and date of death Jan 25....This is correct for my uncle Gus but I'm pretty sure this isn't correct for my great great grandfather...I located a census bureau for the year 1900 and Albert Sr & Tabitha (my great great grandmother) were still alive. They were married in 1850 on June 1st....The census showed them being married for 50 years at the time and they had 11 children and only 5 were still living...I went to the cemetery the other day but was unable to find Albert G. Allen Sr.'s marker or Tabitha Allen's marker. I wanted to give you this information and again thanks for all you hard work.... I find this search fascinating....btw I showed my mom and dad the picture of Gus and they both enjoyed seeing it...
Thanks, Roger Allen

Ken Armstrong
RE: May Maxine Williams Pierce
Thanks again Ann. I have searched and searched to find James W. Williams, but with no luck also. It doesn`t help with a common name like his. There is a story from one of the Armstrong researchers that James took a trip to New Orleans and never returned. I believe this story is true, but I can not prove this. I have wondered...did he just leave or possible was killed. If you ever find him please let me know.
