RE: Fannie B. McDonald Kerr
Hi Christina,

This is great! Your husband and I are 5th cousins. Our common 4g-grandparents are James Mullins and Sarah Canfield of Nova Scotia. I'd love to send you a chart of the connection and the info I have on the Maine descendants for additions and corrections. E-mail would be a lot easier - I am bnorthan AT AOL DOT com.

Fannie B. McDonald Kerr

Thanks for adding all the Kerr info. The Maine death records say Fannie died 30 April 1910 instead of 1919. I can't read the dates on the gravestone picture. Does it really say 1919?

Josiah Moody, Sr.
You asked: "Do you have any verification that Josiah was born in Chatham count, NC? If you do, it could be a help to my genealogy search."

My data only confirms that he was born in NC.

1850 Crawford County, GA Census, Household 267, age 56 making birth about 1794, NC.

I also received the following from another researcher which may be of interest to you:

"Unfortunately very little is known of Josiah and Mary Moody. They first appeared in the 1830 Census in Crawford County, Georgia. Josiah is last found on an 1852 Tax Digest in Macon Co., GA. Mary is believed to have died in the smallpox epidemic of 1858 in Oglethorpe, Macon Co. GA."

Also, the following data may be of some interest:

Property 1: 08 Feb 1830, Purchased Crawford, GA. Georgia Deed Book A, p. 82. 'Lewis Davis sells to Josiah Moody 202 1/2 acres, Lot # 101 in 2nd District'

Property 2: 1832, Georgia Land Lottery, Description: Surveyor General-Georgia Land Lottery-1832. 'Josiah Moody-Harris Dist Crawford-Dist 1, Sec1 lot #508. Josiah Moody-Harris Dist Crawford- Dist 1- Lot #29'

Property 3: 22 May 1834, Sold property Crawford Co., GA. Georgia Deed Book A, p. 618. 'Josiah Moody sells to Elisha Whittle the NE section of lot # 101 in 2nd Dist 105 1/2 acres wit: Wm Boon (recorded 14th May 1835)'
1840 census, Crawford County, GA, [102211x -020001x]

I am helping my friend, Deborah with her genealogy. She has many Canadians in the Kerr clan in her lineage. I am sure you are related to her. She was happy to have the Heather line appear. If you wish I can send her your contact. She will be happy to contact you! Ruthanne

Christina, my email address is I would love to correspond with you. My great grandfather's sister, Malinda, lived with Champ and his family in one of the census. Thank you so much for posting the picture. I was in Heaven. And my dad looked a whole lot like John Wesley Morgan. The genes really have come through! Becky Bowman

I was so happy to see the pic you posted on Champ Morgan's memorial. I know John Wesley was his son. Is this a picture of John, and Champ and his wife? I am a little confused.
My great great grandmother was Champs sister, Elizabeth Morgan Davis who moved to Kentucky and then Macoupin Co. Il in 1880.
Thanks so much, Becky Bowman

Hi Christina,
For some time now I have been trying to help a friend, Deborah S. with her genealogy. It seems her several times great grandfather was also Henry Heather. I am sure she would be happy to have contact with you. She has many Canadian and New England lines. I believe her Charlotte Heather married into the Kerr line. Will ask her for copy of her family tree.
I love the last name of Heather--so Scottish. I have quite a few ancestors in New Brunswick---Craig, Gray, Shaw etc. I know Deborah would like to know where in Scotland Henry originated. Maybe you folks know. You are doing a great service to help others with their family history. Good luck with your research! God bless Ruthanne

RE: john C. Young
Check your e-mail. I have sent the death cert of my Great uncle Peter Hickman Young who died at Sulphur Springs, Hopkins, Texas in 1942. It shows the signature of J C Young.

RE: john C. Young
Thanks, I saw where it has his mother's last name as Goff. My Rodie/Rhoda had a sister Margarett who was married to a Graff. I don't show any Goffs, though. That doesn't mean they aren't there.

In the family they called Rhoda, Rodie.

RE: john C. Young
Where did you find the death record?

Added by BG on Jan 29, 2013 4:25 PM

John Cristopher Young
The birth dates are confusing. When I looked at John's WWI Sevier County,Selective Service registration he said he was born in 1872 which is closer to my tentative date of 1875 and he is living in Sevier County. Another clue is the Sevier County connection mentioned in the obit on Find-A-Grave. My granny Hattie Velma Young was born in Sevier County where her father George Young and Annie Lee Welch Young lived at the time right before WWI.

Another thing is that I live in Enloe, Delta Co., Texas. My Welch/Young family lived off and on in the surrounding area for many decades. From what I found your John Christopher lived in Enloe, Delta Co., Texas at one time. That is where I live now and just a few miles from where Peter Hickman Young lived and died. A Young cousin also lived and died in Commerce, Texas only about 20 miles from Enloe.

RE: John Christopher Young
Pappa Young (George) died in 1955 at Palestine, Texas. His obit says he only had one brother living at the time which was Tom (Thomas W Young) of Durrant, Bryan Co., Oklahoma. George was born on Aug 17, 1879 or 1880, the youngest of 14 children born to John Jackson Young and Rhoda Eliz Bullock in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. That was passed down to me from my mother and I have confirmed it with documentation. I have been successful in tracing one of the older children by the name of Peter Hickman Young in Texas along with is wife and children. Since they lived not far from where I now live in Texas that was no problem. I have had difficulty tracing John C and Thomas W. I do know that at the time George passed away, Thomas was living in Durrant, Oklahoma.

When I looked at the memorial you have for John I noticed you have a linked him with parents. Did you just get that information form census records or do you have any other sources? Sometimes death certificates have the parents names. Do you happen to have a death cert?

John Christopher Young
I think he is my great-grandfather's brother. My great-grandfather George Young lived in Palestine, Texas until he died in 1955. At one time George and his wife Annie Lee had lived near Lokesburg in Sevier County, Arkansas. When I looked John's parents linked to him I was a little confused. The names aren't the same names passed down in my Young family. Could you possibly give me a little more details about his parents or if they are named on a death cert or not?
