Sally Hines
Hi Rick,
Thank you for creating the page for Sally S. Hines.

In researching the Hines family, I ran across a problem with memorial page #37477928 for SALLY HINES who is buried in the old Hines Cemetery in Benton Cemetery in Mississippi.

The photo of her headstone shows her death date as "16 Sept 1851" NOT "16 Dec 1861" as on the page.

Her stone gives her age at death as 73 which would make her birth year about 1778 NOT 1788 given on the page.

Reading that you are into genealogy, I feel that you would want to correct this so others don't copy & carry on these mistakes!! Thank you for all the hard work & time you have put into Find-a-Grave. It is a fantastic resource!

Hi Rick,
Thanks so much for the link to Nancy (Oakes) Naremore's first husband. I've link them & also sent a "request" to the caretaker of James' memorial asking her to add his middle name, date & place of birth. Thanks so much for doing your military research...I find it fascinating!

Another thought: if you do not receive any help on James's father's memorial, let me know and I may be able to help you further. Just send me an email through the edit tab on James Bryant's memorial. Abby

Rick: if you will send me your email through the SAC - I don't want to give you mine on a public message, I will be glad to send you a copy of the death certificate that Linda Huff found. The name does appear to be Louis - BUT, it is written over, and you may make it out differently. See what you think.

RE: Samuel Young
Rick,
The Samuel Young you found is indeed my Samuels Uncle. That Samuel was born in 1907 and I have tons of information on him. Just nothing on my Samuel. Maybe everything that is to me known about my Samuel, Louisa and Thomas J took with them to their graves. I would just like to lay flowers on his grave wherever that may be before I go to my own. He is my big mystery in the family tree. I appreciate your help.

RE: Samuel Young
Rick,
I believe he was born in Georgia around 1837. In 1860 he was living in Randolph County Alabama. I have spoken with Montgomery Alabama and they have no record of him joining in Alabama. I'm not sure what state he joined in or if he was just a citizen and went to help out and joined the nearest brigade. There are a lot of unanswered questions. As far as I know Louisa Benefield Young never filed for his pension and shortly after the end of the war she married Harvey Hester.

I'm sorry - that's probably in error. However, I have made changes on some entries at the request of others. I now have a different personal rule: don't post anything that is not on the marker. I will transfer this one to you.

Jerry Owen
Crouch/Bratton
Rick,
I added the date for Virginia, but that's the best that I can do today.

Virginia Crouch is not in the Tippah Co Heritage Book, and there are no Brattons at all.

Durrell E. Bratton died in Tupelo, Lee Co., Ms, but there is no record of his burial, at Find A Grave, in Mississippi.

RE: Herbert Simmons
Rick, I did a search using his number and it took me right to him. I had tried that previously with another number and it did not work. Thanks for the info.

I added your mother's cousin to the Memphis Tech Virtual Memorial. I looked through the online yearbooks and couldn't locate him. He must have gotten there too late to have his picture taken for the yearbook, so I didn't add the year of his senior class since I'm not certain about it.

Thanks again for the information.

RE: Herbert Simmons
Do you mind telling me which cemetery he is buried in or if he was cremated? I don't know how to look someone up just by using a number and there are 133 Herbert Simmons. I would love to add him to the Virtual Memorial.
Thank you.

RE: Simmons Family
Rick,

I'll be happy to transfer them over to you so you can update and manage them! I am not related to them...I am trying to add as many as I can from Memorial Park right now and hope to go back through them to add bios. However, since you are related to them and have the information, I had rather transfer them to you.

Can you find the ones you have the information on and request a transfer through the "edit" option on the memorials? This is all still new to me, but I understand that is the easiest way to handle it.

Thanks and I'm glad I came across them to help you!

Rick I'm happy that I could help you. I really didn't notice any other Mithchell's, but then I wasn't looking. I live fairly close and I will try to remember to look next time I am there.

McCraw/McGraw at Sherman
Rick: The Memorials I created for Martha and Thomas are definitely in Sherman Cemetery located in Pontotoc Co. MS. I am getting the markers checked for name spelling, third marker also. I will let you know. It sounds like the Fairfield markers are for different people or family mbs. registering them in Find A Grave erred. I am related by marriage to some of the McCraws in Union Co. and also familiar with the book "McCraws not McGraws". Will be happy to transfer once ascertaining spelling, etc. jim

I'm thinking the same cemetery as you are near his Mom. He did state he wanted her nearby, but awkward asking at the time. I felt it would be great creating one for her as the girls might appreciate it too. Will look for some photos later, etc. Thanks for the other info too! Sure is cooler where you are!

I added her middle name. I was aware it was her mother's maiden name. I've known her for many yrs. Our dtrs. grew up together and are still in touch. A private, graveside service was held at a local Tampa cemetery prior to the church service. I'll relay cemetery when I learn more unless you do first.
