Obituary Mesa, Arizona- Robert K. Powers, Jr.54, formerly of Niantic died on Friday July 11, 2008 at his residence. Bob was born November 10, 1953 in Hartford the son of late Robert K. "Doc" Powers Sr. and Virginia Landis of Niantic. Bob attended St. Bernard High School for two years transferred to East Lyme High School to play baseball and football. He graduated from East Lyme High School in 1971. He worked for Spencer Beers for many years and then worked as a foreman for Alan Richie Trucking in Mesa, Arizona. He was an avid fisherman but his passion was auto racing. "Wildman Bob" was a familiar racer at the Waterford Speedbowl and then in Arizona. Bob was very proud of his 24 years of sobriety. Besides his mother he is survived by his children Robert Powers III, Anthony Powers and Ashley Powers. His grandson Devon Powers, his fiancée Tricia D'Alessio, his brothers, Michael and Shawn Powers and his sister Nancy Kelley. His nephews, Patrick, Timothy and Christopher Kelley, Jeremy Powers and his niece Sheri Powers Mancini. His great nieces McKenzie, Kelley and Caroline Mancini. Besides his father he was predeceased by his nephew Shannon Powers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 24, 2008 at 10 O'clock at St. Agnes Church Haigh Street Niantic. Interment will follow in East Lyme Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home 48 Grand Street Niantic.
