Linda Hainey
Aircraftman George Raymond Croucher
Hi Stephen:

I have been recently researching my family history. I have always known I had an uncle in the RAF who was killed in a plane crash, and came across your poignant entry in Find a Grave and the accompanying photograph in Abbington Cemetery. I was always under the impression that he had been buried abroad, as I believe the aircraft was heading for Cyprus. He was a dog handler in the RAF and although we have a few family photographs of him with his dog, his death was never spoken about very often. Shortly after his death my grandparents and my Mum (Raymond's sister) moved to Scotland. Now I know where he was laid to rest I am going to make a serious effort to visit at some point.

Linda Hainey - niece of Raymond Croucher.

John Baker
Abingdon - Orrell
Hi. Thanks for the picture. The correct name on this stone should be Stuart Cardy Orrell.
I have full details of the accident when he was killed. The Parish Council close to the crash site have named local lakes ORRELL, HAUPT and CANBERRA in memory of the accident.
If members of either family would like more information please contact me.

Charles Barnes
Capt. James Nicol

Thank you for putting this memorial up on here. It has filled in many gaps. I think many Torry, Goldie, Nicol & Jeffrey familes will hone in on this.

Caroline Mayow
Warrant Officer TD Mayow, Botley
Just wanted to say thank you for finding and posting the picture of my father's grave and the story of his death after full war service in Bomber Command, all over Europe and North Africa. When he died in the accident over Oxfordshire he was serving in the RAF reserves.

David Neller
St James the Less, Litchfield
Hello Stephen
As you were the only contributor with a memorial at St James the Less, Litchfield, Hampshire and have posted a church photo I wonder if you also created the page. If so, perhaps you could also add a map location. I have just started to post memorials for family members buried in that area and a map on the churchyard page would assist me and other family members to locate the graves. Regards and thanks, David
