|John Clayton||Jeremiah Clayton|
Hi, I saw one record which stated that Jeremiah was the father of Gowan Clayton Sr. and grandfather of Gowan Jr. Maybe that is why Jr. paid for the care of Jeremiah. You also say that Gowan jr is the father of Sampson Clayton, 1809. Can you document this or is this a good guess? John

Thank you, Record! To my knowledge, no relation with those Claytons. I have tried to link those two families because of the similarities in names, so it may go back to Virginia if there is a connection. So far, no luck.
Thank you for the corrections at the duplicate cemeteries/memorials. I am contacting Findagrave directly to have the Baptist cemetery deleted. The Baptist only used that Methodist church at some point. Terribly confusing to contributors and photographers, too. Thanks again! Keep up the good work!

We have visited before. My great grandmothers twin brother is James Albert Cathcart 1867-1930.
I am looking for more info on James's parents. I put the wrong last name to his mother Nancy so I'm back to looking for her last name. I have a picture of the twins Lula & James.

Hi, the info you sent was mostly new to me. I will have to do some research on Jeremiah. I base some of my info on identical YDNA matches for Gowan and Joseph Alexander Clayton, a brother of my gg grandfather, Sampson Clayton, 1809, SC. My results also match Thompson Clayton, all of SC. I have more results coming which should narrow down the matches. Guess I better starch searching for the info you sent.

I am always happy to transfer management to family. I have always felt that memorials should be managed by family members no matter how distant. When you have a chance, call up my profile and search my records to see if I have more of your family.

Palmer Reid Cathcart, Jr. (my husband); Palmer Reid, Sr.-father-1/5/1890-10/16/1961; grand pa- James Albert-1868-1944; ggpa- John Calhoun-1824-1902; gggpa- James Wesley-1790-1886;-ggggpa- Samuel-1745-1820.
This is as far as I have been able to go. I have wives and children for all of them except Samuel: no wife found, but 7 children found.
Thank you for responding. I seem to have hit a brick wall on the Cathcart men.

Those names are just made up. Docia was a love child. Her mother's name was Sarah Arminda Case-see the links on Docia's memorial, and she was married to James Hamilton Boling, after Docia was born. Docia was adopted by Silas E Case (remember Silas in the tobacco plant?) but she always called Sarah Arminda "mother" and asked her permission to do this or that. Sarah Arminda had a bunch more children who acknowledged Docia as their half sister.
Whoever wrote the obit did what my great aunt did when her unmarried-with-three-children-mother died: she made up a husband. In Docia's obit, they flipped the names to make it look like Docia had 2 parents that were married.
