No. But, it has taken me almost 5 years to find him. I sort of thought that if he was killed in VA, he would also be buried there. I'm so glad I finally found him.

To let you know, for you records, I added: Thomas C Jones (Find A Grave Memorial# 97550940), Neil S Jones (Find A Grave Memorial# 92141900), Lillian K Jones (Find A Grave Memorial# 92141878), & Pansy (Jones) Williamson (Find A Grave Memorial# 93234725). Sadly, that's all the stones that are there. I don't know, for sure how many are missing.

The info on Edwin comes from the Hope Cemetery URL (http://www.friendsofhopecemetery.com/genealogy.php). There is a list of "Civil Veterans." I research the 15th Massachusetts Infantry, and as I was going through the list for my guys I just added some of the others I came across. If you would like to have Edwin transferred to your find-a-grave account, just let me know.
I expect you are right about the stone in Hope being a family memorial of some kind. I live far away and don't know exactly where his stone is located in the cemetery. When you get Edwin on your account, you can request a photo from a local volunteer.

Bob - I have added a better picture of the portraits on the monument. If you would like a higher quality photo than Find A Grave allows, I would be happy to email one direct to you. Best wishes. Elaine

You're welcome Bob! I just happen to go to the library today and found a book with the list of Veterans of the Wars. I had a few from the "War of 1812" (1812-1815), The Mexican War (1846-1848) and now I'm working on the American Civil War. I couldn't beleive how big the list is. I know that there are other wars listed but I thought that I would take it slow and do alittle bit at a time.

|Kathy Wolfe||RE: Powell grave.|
There are 2 other cemeteries in Watervliet. St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery and Fairview Memorial Cemetery (est. 1949). The book I previously mentions lists the names of all 3 cemeteries. The AB Powell of Watervliet Cemetery is the only Powell listed. Therefor I believe that he does not have a marker. Watervliet Cemetery is not being maintained very well, I noticed other flat veterans markers that were almost covered over with grass from World War I. So it is possible that one from 1904 could be completely covered. Next time I go that way, I will take another look around.

Bob - After I wrote you about Adaline, I thought to look and see whether she had a memorial. She did, so I posted the photo. I might post better photos for them both when I'm over there sometime in the afternoon, when the sun is better. 88 degrees here today in Central New York.

Hi Bob - You are very welcome. Shall I post the photo of Adaline's stone also? It is right next to James's stone.
I think you now have the two photos of our two Civil War Veterans from Co. A 117th New York Infantry. The other was Duane Babcock posted about three years ago.

You are very welcome! I did not know how beautiful that cemetery is (or how large). The caretaker was very helpful in helping me locate stones. I still have more to add when I get a chance. I want to add a couple views of the cemetery but not sure how or where.

Hi Bob - thank you for your uplifting note. You
are truly welcome. Jerome was the one that the caretaker found for me after I found the rest. I
was very pleased to see the stone in such great
condition. All the best to you, Bob! - Paul

The monument for Wallace Alexander indicates he died 1-18-1882 instead of 1883. I have temporarily added a closeup for your review. elaine

This is a beautiful National Cemetery, well maintained but due to the dry weather, the grass is all brown....gone dormant. I'm happy to see some of the new headstones. The old ones from that time period are very hard to read. I'm always so proud to visit there where some of this country's finest are laid to rest.
