Oaklawn Cemetery Question
Do you have a private email address that I could send this question to?

Andrew F. Frederickson (memorial #121943251)is buried next to Caroline (memorial #39175819). Should they be linked as spouses? Frances Fredrickson (39175807)in the same plot may be their daughter, judging from the dates.

Norway Jones surname
I am searching for my Jones ancestors. A relative recently suggested that we may be from Norway. I searched Find-a-Grave in Norway and found 11 Jones surnames. I am wondering if you know of any descendant information for these Joneses......or where I might find documented research. Thank you!!

RE: Barbara Kallal Frederickson obit?
Thank you so much for trying to locate these obituaries. I have in my file that her daughter Corinne died in Nebraska, if I have the right person. While you are hunting, would you be so kind to look for one for Beatrice Wesely Pontrelli (d. Nov 28, 1991) and her husband Felix or Francis Pontrelli who died July 31, 1957, both in Ramsey Co. Beatrice's mother was Mary Katherine Kallal.

Barbara Kallal Frederickson obit?
Do you happen to have the obituary for her? I am researching her sister (Mary Katherine) and am trying to find out more about their sisters.

Wish we could edit our posts!
Lucy Merrill Jenness married another John S. Jenness (not John J. Jenness as I incorrectly wrote below). Sheesh.

John S. Jenness

Sorry about that early post.

As I was trying to say ... I think you are right about Simon D. being John's father and definitely right about Moore as Lucy's maiden name. I made the changes. I also updated John's memorial as to his three wives and the children from each that I could put together. Perhaps you can check it out.

I also realized that a photo I took in Highland of an "Unknown Jenness" is likely to be Delia Sedgwick Jenness (or a cenotaph). I requested additional information from the office and will update when confirmed.

It was very confusing researching John in Detroit and Almont before he moved his family to Ypsilanti. You are likely aware that his sister, Lucy Merrill Jenness, married another John J. Jenness (a cousin, perhaps). He was a state senator and they also lived in Detroit for many years. I found an interesting article in the Detroit Free Press about Lucy Merrill Jenness Jenness that named her parents, Simon and Delia, and her marriage to her husband, their children, etc.

Also saw an interesting (and disturbing) series of articles from 1858-1859 of three trials and a Supreme Court decision regarding incest allegations against John S. Jenness by his niece, Delia E Ashcroft. She was the daughter of another sister, Martha Jenness Ashcroft. Were you aware of this drama? Although all the articles name John S. as the accused, the Supreme Court decision names a different brother, Simon B. Jenness as the scoundrel. It is a little confusing.

If you haven't seen these articles I can forward them to you if you like. Let me know at

John Sedgewick Jenness and Lucy Jenness
Hi Karen,

Do you have documentation to support that Simon D. Jenness is the father of John Sedgewick Jenness and that Moore is indeed the maiden name of John's wife Lucy?
I hesitate to make such important changes without seeing some sort of documentation.

Hi Karen,

I was wondering if you could update the memorials listed above for William Bork & William Bork Jr. I have copy of their death certificates.

William Sr was born May 12, 1861 and died Oct 22, 1940.

William Jr was born Feb 14, 1905 and died Apr 23, 1923.

Thank you.

George W Curtiss
Hello, Karen

The search results for George W Curtiss at Lakewood Cemetery a bit unusual...

It says that he WAS cremated there, but the ashes were returned [which usually means returned to a family member] and were not buried at Lakewood.

But also their record shows his age - 81 - yet the birth and death dates do not reflect that age. Their record shows birth as 5/10/1949 with a death date of 5/13/1949.

Perhaps a call to the cemetery would help.

Clara Amanda Estenson Frederickson
Hi Karen, Are you related to Clara? If so, could she possibly be the person who lived in South Dakota and was married to a Johnson who died quite young? If so, they had a child named Mildred in about 1910. Does any of that sound right to you? Thanks! Janine
