RE: Horns and Simmers
Hello again. If you ever track those elusive Horns back to Europe from Delaware, please let me know. I was in Ohio last August and cousins there and I found more Horn graves in Tuscarawas County, OH.

I just found the photo you placed on Capt. Thomas E. Ashby's memorial. Thank you! Could you also place it on his wife Mary's memorial since you specifically mentioned her in the description? Also, did you use the "other" option for the type of photo rather than "grave" or "person"? (I've never done "other" to see what kind of icon shows up on the memorial listing.) Thanks again.

Joseph Fell
Dear Sandra,
I would like to inform you that the picture you have attached to Joesph Fell (August 19, 1668 to April 9, 1748, Memorial #7832444) is not correct.
The picture that you show on that memorial is of Joseph Fell (April 12, 1804 to March 11, 1887)[see page 105 of the "Fell Family" book] who assisted Sarah Fell in contributing genealogical data of the Fell family for the "Fell Family of America" book.

To my knowledge no photo or portrait of Joseph Fell, Memorial #7832444 exists.

Thank you,
Larry Siegrist (#48314837)

You added a headstone pic to his memorial, it is so tiny it can't be read. Do you happen to have the full version available to replace it with or perhaps send me? He is a 3rd cousin from my Wentz line.

Jesse Ashby
Hello Sandra,

I received your message concerning Jesse Ashby. I'm glad that you did find the information on our website helpful. "Jesse Ashby was born in Frederick Co., VA in 1738. That was actually the year that Frederick County was formed." Frederick County was created on June 10, 1748 from parts of Prince George's County and Baltimore County. That would be about 10 years after Jesse's birth. As for him being born in VA, it is certainly (and most likely) the case, but understand that Frederick County is very close to Maryland and Carroll County, Md wasn't formed until 1837 from parts of Baltimore and Frederick Counties. I do feel that this bears more research and I am willing to, in the meantime, to change (as you suggested) that Jesse was born in Frederick County, VA, until more source information becomes available.

As for the Revolutionary War service memorial and source information, I feel that until a challenge is made to the DAR concerning the question of his service, I believe that it should remain unchanged. Do you have any supporting documentation or evidence to challenge the DAR on this matter? Or can you explain why you feel that Jesse Ashby didn't serve? Daniel Morgan, after Dunmore's War, went to serve and was gathering volunteers and militia in that part of Virginia for the Revolutionary War. I will have to look through my sources and documentation to see if Jesse Ashby has a Rev. War grant. I do have some of the grants granted to his brothers. There may also be some documentation for Revolutionary War pensions, but I'll have to check. It might be worth contacting the DAR to see if they can provide their source information about Jesse and why they put up the stone.

In the meantime, there's an interesting story about his brother Stephen that you might be interested in reading. Here's the link:

Jesse Ashby
Hello Sandra,

I received your messages regarding Jesse Ashby.
I guess this makes us cousins (a few times removed).
Since we are both descended from Jesse and Tamar.
My GGGGgrandfather was his son Thomas Ashby B.1781.
Anything you wish to add the the Jesse and/or Tamar memorial, I'll add. There is more information on the Ashbys on our website http://thestoms.com/StomTree/
Feel free to check it out.

Thanks so much for the comment and flower for my dad. He'd get a big kick out of it, he was a very social guy. Found your Ross mystery absolutely intriguing. Hope you solve it.
