RE: Harratt & Sally (McFarland) Fitch
You have permission to use the photos as requested. Thanks for asking.
You might be interested to know that the Damariscotta Cemetery Committee is preparing to post all of the info and photos from Walpole-Huston-Woodward Cemetery on the Town web site. All the stones have recently been cleaned and repaired, and the data is being entered into cemetery software owned by the Town. Bethlehem Cemetery data will be available first, followed by Walpole-Huston-Woodward, hopefully within a year. A link will be posted on

RE: Ocean View Cemetery
My research today has shown that the name of this cemetery is Oceanview--the website has a photo of the sign. I also spoke to Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor town offices plus a local funeral home: the cemetery is in Boothbay. And there is just one. If you think your Giles relatives belong in Oceanview, you could edit the burial site and they will be moved.

RE: Ocean View Cemetery
Perhaps I need to take a ride down to that area because I don't know how many Ocean View's there are. It could be that there is one in each of the 2 towns. I will let you know if I find out anything definitive.

I was interested in the spelling you used of Wylie Cemetery; someone has added Wiley to findagrave with a map and no burials. Wylie Cem. has no map but has over 100 graves. Appears that Wiley should be deleted or merged with Wylie. Something else to check out! Thanks. Libby

Ocean View Cemetery
There are 2 Ocean View Cemeteries on findagrave in the Boothbay ME area. One is purported to be in Boothbay Harbor (although the Town of Boothbay lists it as in their town)and it has 389 memorials. The second one (Boothbay Centre) has 3 Giles memorials. The 2 towns in this area are Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. Is it possible that these 3 memorials belong in the other cemetery?

Oh look, a chicken!
RE: David H. Ehre

Lana and Delana are probably the same person, since she was listed as the first wife. I can change it to Lana if you'd like, and I'll add the last name, too.

I don't remember if the stone itself for Harriet Near said 1875, but the news articles I've found were definitely in 1875.

I'm not related at all, but I enjoy trying to link families together, so if you'd like and are related I could also transfer them to you.

You requested a photo of this headstone in the Lyons, Nebraska cemetery.

There is a JL Knollin and Mate Knollin that are listed as unmarked graves. If you think this could be the same person?

There is also a Roscoe Knollin who died in 1887 at the age of 23 who is buried in the same lot as JL and Mate.

I have a photo of Roscoe with the open space beside the headstone if you want to use it for James. Assuming you think they are the same person.

RE: Walker Family
Hi Steve,
I cannot edit the memorial because I am not the owner. As a contributor I can only edit those memorials that I have created or the pictures I have added. You can send the family connection information to the owner or your can request that she transfer ownership to you. Glenda is open to either. I've worked with her on many of my family members memorials. Best wishes with your research.

Walker Family gravesite
Please send me your email address and I will send you more photos to use as you wish. I went back up to the cemetery with my cleaning supplies and cleaned the main monument and took pictures of all of the individual grave markers. In addition to Chandler and Mary there were also two children of Henry and Hattie's who are buried there, Arthur H and Lindley C.

Henry & Nettie Walker
There are other Walker's buried in this same plot. The engraving was very hard to read because the stone is so dirty. Chandler is one of the names I could decipher. I will go back when I have some time and clean the stone and try capturing the other names.

I'm sure that's why a permanent marker has not yet been set.

RE: John Mark Woodman
Sometimes families like to wait until the grave is well settled before erecting a marker and that often depends upon the amount of rainfall the area has received. Otherwise, it if is placed and the ground settles more the marker will sink into the ground and then they have to go back out and pull it up and tamp dirt under it. I know they have received appreciable rainfall since his funeral, but they may not figure it is appreciable enough. Or, if they are planning for someone to be buried next to him and sharing a double marker, that can cause them to wait. Was he married and is his wife still living? This cemetery is not a Perpetual Care Cemetery.

RE: John Mark Woodman
Steve, That is temporary funeral home marker. They are temporary at best. Hopefully the family will set a permanent marker in the near future. My experience with the temporary marker is that the mower will get it when the grass is taller than the marker. Those markers are only about 8-10 inches high. As of the last time I was there, this was the only marker in place. Frank
