I'm very sorry that I didn't get back to you until now. I am supposed to get notices on my email when a message comes through but I only seem to have gotten your last one. To answer your questions, I got Robert's birth/death dates right from his marker on F/G. As far as Mildred, I've checked through all of my "edits" and can't seem to find my request for you to delete it. I've looked for the duplicate also and can't find it, so I must have had a senile moment that day. Please ignore. I'm sorry if this caused you fruitless searching. Thanks for calling these to my attention. Lynda

The date came from the Carson City Death Records that you can find here:
However, in looking at it again, I see that I misread the numerical representation. They have his birthdate listed as 1898-07-12. I read that as December 7 but I now see that I should have read it as July 12. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I have made the correction.

|John & Retta Waggoner||RE: S.T. Rogers #126576396|
I rechecked the S T Rogers tombstone today it shows a death date on the 13th which I listed on the memorial with a note that death certificate says the 14th and burial on the 14th. The iron fence that once enclosed the tombstone is gone and the cemetery is in the back yard of a new house under construction. It is sad to see the deterioration of what was once a beautiful cemetery.

Thank you for your inquiry concerning the death date of S.T. Rogers. I took the cemetery photos probably 12 years ago, long before I had heard of Find A Grave so was not as careful of what I photographed. I went back to the cemetery last year to retake the photos and the cemetery was grown up in weeds, thorns and bushes to the extent I could not enter it. I will check again to see if it may have been restored. The death date was from the Smith County Cemetery book but I have changed the memorial to conform to the death certificate. John

So if you are related then I more than likely have you in my family tree, however, under your username I don't know who you are - would you want to email me personally at ShelleyA29@yahoo.com. I'm always willing to share photos, info, etc., with family members.

In response to your request for changing his place of death......First, are you related? I am. Lon's son has requested that the memorial remain as is....although Lon may have spent a few days in the hospital,he was from Gr. Co., so I must decline your request based on Lon's family's request.

|The Old Genealogist||Hazel O. Whited|
Hazel O. Whited was teaching in the public schools in Wichita in the 1950's. She is the only teacher of that surname listed in the Wichita City Directories of that time, so I would guess she is the individual you were asking about.

Forgot to mention the name has been added also: Lula Corene and that was worth the trip to have her name added to the list.

I checked the cemetery this morning. The marker there now appears to be a recently added one, certainly since the first recording was made. The marker now reads: Beautiful daughter of Chas and Cora. The dates are also different: October 5,- December 6, 1922.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'm not sure that cemetery has been checked recently (thought they all were, but....). As soon as the weather cools, it will probably be checked again. The cemetery is a beautiful little cemetery and well kept.

Back in 1983, the Cherokee Volunteer League put together a book of the Cemeteries in Woods County. This has been updated and checked several times, but that does not mean the 1822 is correct. The cemetery is not that far from here, so when the weather cools a lilttle I will go out and check again, but right now at 107 degrees, it's too hot to do that. I'll try one morning that I don't have to be at work. Thanks for checking this out.

Emeline Howe is now under your tender loving care in the Grand Ridge Cemetery. If you have other relatives that you would like to maintain, I would be more than happy to transfer them to you. In answer to your question, I do live about 5 miles from the cemetery and drive past it on a pretty regular basis. I plan to do some photos of the stones this spring, but the weather just has not been cooperative so far. If you need something from this area, just let me know. I also plan to add the other Grand Ridge area cemeteries to the Find A Grave website. Vickie61997

|Robin Marshall||Re: Emerson Elmo Robbins|
I took the picture of his marker at Kingston Memorial Gardens. There is a Cavalry cemetery in Kingston but it is nowhere near Kingston Memorial Gardens. I'm not sure why the military website shows him buried at Cavalry. As far as I know Kingston Memorial Gardens has only been known by that name. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
