RE: Kahn family
Hi Gary of course I remember you. I married a guy in the army and have lived in Va for the last 35 years. Both my parents have passed and I seldom go to Ky. I got into genealogy a couple of years ago, hence the find a grave. Hope you are well and happy

Hello Gary - Mr Buckley is my husband's grandfather.do you have any information on the fact both of his children were adopted? I noticed your message about his career on the police force and wondered if you had additional info. Thanks

Photos, etc. of James William Morgan
Mr. Powell,
I'm Kim Morgan and I am aware that you have been trying to contact me through Ancestry.com concerning an early photo of my father, James William Morgan, on the Louisville Police Force. Right now I'm unable to read my messages from Ancestry.com and am trying to contact you through this forum.
Please contact me at my email address: kbmorgan@comcast.net to further correspond concerning the photo you have and any other early Police Dept. information you may have on my Dad. Thank you for contacting me and I apologize for not being able to readily contact you back.
Best Regards,
Kim Morgan

RE: McKim
Gary,

I don't see any point in you deleting and then me adding them to Cave Hill. If you want to either note the memorials in Portland or change the burial location that would be fine. I just didn't want to create duplicates. They are all buried the same day in the same section & lot so I do feel that they are re-interments.

I know that you are particularly interested in law enforcement. I sometime run across policemen in doing memorials. Would you be interested in them?

McKim
Gary,

You have 2 memorials in Portland Cemetery for Charles W. & Mary McKim. I was entering memorials for McKims buried at Cave Hill and came across 4 McKims buried at Cave Hill, all on the same day, 4 May 1938. Usually, that means that they were re-interments. Among the McKims, buried at Cave Hill, were Charles W. & Mary Jane McKim. Rather than me making duplicate memorials, I was wondering if you could make a note on your memorials for Charles & Mary McKim that they may be re-interred at Cave Hill.

RE: Effie & Eli Martin
Since 2002 one day there was a big brushpile in the old cemetery, I set it on fire and got it gone. Then later took the inmates out to work on it for a day, that got it in shape where it could be routinely mowed. And then the church or whoever takes care of the new cemetery has been mowing it. Still needs work, and not as good as the new cemetery but whole bunch better. I could not see how folks could stand on front steps of church look across road to where the church founders were buried and go on home. When I took the inmates, I told one lady we were getting it where she could walk up there, etc. She said they did not maintain it because they did not have permission, I said, "I give you permission to maintain the old cemetery." It worked. Might say called their bluff on it, talked to some of the bigger donors, brought it to mind of people who had ignored it for 50 years. If you need a tour guide to your ancestral cemeteries, let me know. I do this routinely for people.

Eli Martin married 3-25-1903 in Ohio Co., Ky to Effie Taylor, a friend recently photographed all markers in both Bells Run and Old Bells Run. Have you seen the new church recently built?

RE: Mary E Gaskins Maynard
Gary, James was born in Overton Co., TN in/abt 1864, and I believe that Mary E. Gaskins was born in 1869, on/near Jamestown KY. They lived in and around that area most of their married lives, raised their children there, and also must have died there???I do know that my grandmother Myrtie L Maynard lived there until married, and then for a bit after that. She must have left her two eldest living with her parents, because it shows my bio father Elmer Hamblin living there in Russell Co., KY at the age of 17, and his sister Sada living there as well. I believe that she and her husband Joseph Hamblin migrated up to Cincinatti, made a home for the others she had and eventually Sada and Elmer moved to Cincinatti. I have been looking for James and Mary E Gaskins for over 6 years, their death, and where they are buried. I am weary. Anything you can do to help would be appreciated
Sincerely,

Lea Hamblin Roberts

Mary E Gaskins Maynard
I am looking for anyone who can tell me if my ggrandmother or ggrandfather; Mary E Gaskin, James Micajah Maynard is buried in the Bernard Cemetery. I have found their sons, and grandsons buried there. Wayne Thomas Maynard, Ores Maynard etc. I am so stumped because I can find no death cert. nor a gravesite for my ggrandparents. I never knew this side of my family. Is there anyone out there who knows of this family. My maternal grandmother was named Myrtle L Maynard, married Joseph Hamblin, and they are buried in Cincinatti, OH. Unfortunately, I never knew them either.

Any help would be so appreciated. I called Jamestown, Ky, and was told that they have no historical society.
Sincerely,
Lea Hamblin Roberts

I don't have a baptismal record, so my date could be erroneous. If you can click and send me whatever the newspaper article source was, it might have additional information that would be helpful to my trying to resolve it.

My email is tcorbet@ix.netcom.com.

Thank you.
