|Kristi Monroe Bender||RE: Schmidts|
When you gave the name Schmidt I figured there was a good chance they were at Catherine. There are a ton of them there. My husband's family is Schmitt. The picture on Jacob's of the big concrete sign is the settler's sign. If I put it on there, then his name is on it. It's engraved with the church records for the earliest settlers of Catherine and has a map that shows which plot is theirs, if they know.

Oh...If you have scans of photos of their makers you can email them to me at email@example.com. It might be possible to match the details if the names are missing.

|Kristi Monroe Bender||RE: Metal headstones|
These metal crosses are all over Rush, Russell and Ellis counties in the Volga German cemeteries. From what I understand, they were the type they used back in Russia. They were made by local men. My husband's gg-grandfather was a blacksmith and made a lot of them.
One big problem with these is that somewhere along the line many of the name plates have either worn/rusted over or been painted over. Some never had one. I'm within an hour or two of most of these cemeteries and spent a lot of time in them last fall.
If they had these crosses, they're Volga German Catholics and most likely buried in the cemetery of whichever church they attended. I can't promise anything, but if you'd like to give me their names, I might be able to get an idea which community they were from or keep an eye out for them.

We are updating our information on John K. Sprague. We list him on our website, The Sprague Project, at:
As you left flowers for him, I assume that you have additional information that we would like to have. His headstone shows that he was in WWI. We are unable to confirm his service at several military websites.
Your help would be appreciated,

Forgot to finish explanation Josephine Parker Clark 1868 -- 1944 was Josephine Parker Clark wife of I. Grant Clark who is buried in Snider Cemetery. William C. Clark 1874--1897 was son of John Clark and Josephine Welch Clark. This Josephine died as a Shaw in 1901 and is also buried at Chelsea. This Josephine Welch was married 5 times -- 5th husband was the Shaw.

Thought I'd let you know that Josephine Clark 1868--1944 buried in Chelsea Cemetery is not the mother of William C. Clark 1874 -- 1897

You also have photo's for the other Blanke's in Chelsea Cemetery such as Louis; Edward C; Dessie; Johnny. Would it be alright if I used the pictures of their headstones also? Most are Ida and Henry's children.
I really appreciate all that you have done.

|Holley Izard||RE: Transfers|
I think I checked with the city before I went to the county. I'm just really grateful to find them. I knew they'd lived and died in the Chelsea area, but the county told me they might have been among graves that were moved to make way for the lake. Not a happy thought. I will attach several relatives.
I found this when working on Ancestry.com today, they had the link to Find A Grave. Again THANK YOU so much. Holley
