Federated Cemetery
I just got this email that should have been sent to you concerning the name of the cemetery.

Dear Leslie,

I am a member of the Ashland Historical Commission, a town committee. I also belong to the Historical Society and Cliff Wilson told me about the gravestone list he gave you. I had originally given it to the DPW. I checked some of your pictures today and they are great [slate stones] and we all appreciate what you have done. I have found tremendous amounts of information on Find A Grave in my genealogical research.

At the moment I am putting together an application for town CPA funds to restore part of this cemetery, about 48 stones closest the the entrance stone wall. If successful, the work would not begin until after July 1, 2016. So, if you check with me by next fall, you may be able to go back and read some of the stones better. A couple will never be legible, but I know who they are.

However, would you please do one thing now - change the name. It's behind the Federated Church, 118 Main St., but is not a church cemetery and was never called Federated Cemetery. The town purchased it in 1850, at which time it was called the First Parish Cemetery and we will have such a sign made as part of our project, so call it that, please.

I don't know if you photographed the Simpson-Jones Family Burying Ground on route 135, just past Esty Street going toward Hopkinton. That has just been restored, but we are waiting for an small stone dedicated to three slaves also buried there. If you did go there, I hope you noticed the rear of the granite memorial stone, as there are about a dozen names inscribed of persons who did not have a stone or who are in the Stimpson Tomb.

I have finished posting all of the legible stones to the Federated Cemetery site. However, there are about 47 stones that I can not read.

Photo requests
Hello Stabley,

I have received your requests, but I am unable to fill them at this time. I am an asst manager at a Halloween store ad this is our busy time. If the snow holds off until after they close the store, I will try to get there then.

Federated Cemetery
I visited the Federated Cemetery yesterday and took photos of all of the stones. Most of them are hard to read. I will post them as soon as I can.

Mary Belding
Correction: Samuel Belding married four times, the first to Mary ____, the mother of his children. First Mary died in 1677. Then he married 2nd to Mary Beardsley, widow of Thomas Wells. Third wife was also named 'Mary,' and fourth wife was 'Sarah.'

Mary Belding
I have to disagree. Samuel Belding was married twice. His first was to Mary ____, who died 1677 in the Hatfield raid. He married second, apparently, in 1678, to Mary Beardsley, widow of Thomas Wells, who also died in King Philip's War. My memorial is for the first Mary, surname unknown. I suggest you create your own memorial for the second wife.
I have clarified this on my memorial for the first wife Mary.

RE: Victor E Cleveland
I am not the manager of the memorial that was duplicated, just someone looking at the cemetery. I did send an edit to the memorial manager to correct the last name spelling, I suggest if you have dates etc. to correct that you do the same. It does not appear as if this member is active therefore any edit you send will be automatically accepted in 20 days time. I'm glad you transferred the photo. Thanks for helping to keep the listings within the cemetery correct.

Hi Stanley,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to thank you for memorial #109711130. I recently discovered through DNA testing that I am related to John Heemstra. I was wondering where you got the photo of John, Lewis, and Elizabeth, and if you have a higher-quality copy of the photo. Hope to hear from you soon.
All the best,

George H Munger

I retook the photo of George H Munger Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford, MA ID# 70708820 stone. It is just a little clearer.

Wish there was a way to darken the lettering, with out damaging the stone.

If you want I can post this picture, just leave me a message.

Bixby family photo requests in Hopkinton
Hi Stanley,
I was unable to find any of the Bixby family members that you have photo requests for in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Hopkinton, MA. I looked up some of their death records and found the burial location is merely entered as "Hopkinton" so I wonder if by chance they might instead buried in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery ( which abuts Mount Auburn Cemetery. Sorry, I was visiting from out-of-state and I didn't have time to check St. John. Good luck in your search. -Judi

Grace Petron
Josiah Atkinson, Sugar Bush Cemetery, Beltrami County
There is a wooden cross and a name only. Could this be the Civil War Veteran married to Virginia Thaamun on Familysearch? She is on the CA Death Index and was born in St Paul, the way it appears. The Civil War Josiah is on Soldiers and Sailors but not on Grave Locator. Does someone flag veterans' graves on the 4th of July in MN? I am not very experiences with doing military graves. Thanks, Grace
