Wrong death date listed
Alma Eliza Watson was my grandmother. Her date of death should be October 24, 1922 as shown on her tombstone not November 24, 1922 as shown on the Find a grave page submitted by you.

RE: George Washington Armstrong Lewis
GWA Lewis was my 2nd great-grandfather. His mother was Mariah Ann A. (Smithart) Williams Lewis (1828-1904). Mariah's parents were John and Melinda (Cochran) Smithart. John and Melinda both appear to have died prior to 1850, probably in Warren Co., MS. I do not know who John's parents were. Melinda's father was Jonathan Cochran. I have never known the origin of "Armstrong."

Thank you, Marilyn so very much for this transfer. Believe me, I fully understand about holding own to those near and dear to your heart. I have a very hard time getting local genealogists to understand this. They add memorials of people they never knew, aren't closely related to and call themselves "volunteers". They don't know about our connections, the stories passed down and our love for those who came before in our families. And there's no way apparently to get them to comprehend this. I do. Thank you so much for the transfer of my Great Grandfather's sister.

I appreciate your generosity because I DO understand.

Warmest Regards,
Nancy

RE: Flanagan
I believe the dates to be:
Birth = Aug 12, 1853
Death = Oct 10, 1909
This would agree with the inscription of him being 56 years old when he died. The next time I go to this cemetery I will check again and see if I can bring it out better for you.

I checked with city hall and she said they didn't have a listing for Noah Woods. I did look next to his wife's marker there is a space but not any marker. If he died in 2010 there should be signs of a grave there. I will keep looking when I go back.

RE: Yankee
MY GOODNESS! I've never seen so many Erwin's. Mary Jane Erwin's sister also married another of my relatives who moved to Texas. I'll have to find her name again. I need their parents' names. My Mother's family is also from MS, but around Blue Mountain, Ripley, Tippah and Alcorn Counties, primarily Anderson's and Byrds. Nancy Yankie

Marilyn - did you have a Martin with a brother named John L. Who accidentally shot and killed his brother when they were young? I think it happened in MS before they moved to TX. . Nancy

RE: Yankee
That may well be! Yankie was spelled Yankie, Yankey and on occasion Yankee but all go back to the same source! I am particularly looking for my Great Grandmother Mary Jane Erwin Yankie. I can't find her grave. Who of the names (forgot to mention the Hatchetts, Lyles, Adams) are you related to?

Grandmother Mary Yankie was born in Yazoo in 1856, married Grandpa Jonathan William Yankie in 1872 in Yazoo, later moved to TX and I believe went back to Mississippi from Texas when she became sick and died in MS. But I can't find her! I know she died because he came back to MS to find wife #2, Brunette Skinner.

I'd love to hear back from you. My email is: Jazzbaby@hot.rr.com. I'll remove this from my messages so everyone doesn't get my email. I'll explain later.

Thanks! Nancy

Marilyn I have no location of her grave site. Do you? According to my information she was about 56 when she died. I don't know if she went to Crossett, Arkansas with her husband or not. She is somewhere in an unmarked grave.

RE: Harris and Sibley Corrections
Thanks so much for linking these memorials. My research is limited on the Sibley children other than Alice Sibley who married Samuel Elmer Harris, and her family line extends to SC. Alice was my children's paternal great grandmother.

RE: Are you a Smithhart relative?
No I am not a Smithart relative that I know of. I'm just a photographer trying to help others get information from taking pictures of the requested headstone as well as surrounding stones to help them in their research. My husband's family is found in neighboring parishes (Grant, Winn, LaSalle) so it's possible a connection could be found there down the line sometime. At this moment I do not know of one. I hope the pictures I took help you in your connections!
