I am researching Norris Franklin Smith, my gr gr grandfather. His sister was Marium Orlena Smith Overstreet. You set up a memorial for her on Find a Grave in 2012. I am trying to find information on their mother, who I believe to be Clarissa Smith and who I believe went to Newton Co., MS from Covington Co., MS. I find her in the 1850 census for Covington county, MS and then in the 1860 census of Newton Co., MS.

I have a deed that is dated 14 October 1853 and was filed in Newton County where a Clarissa Overstreet (formerly Clarissa Smith and the wife of Benjamin F. Smith) sells land located in Covington Co, MS to a Jonathan P. Smith. This makes me think she may have married an Overstreet in Newton Co after the death of her husband Benjamin Smith; but I donít find a Clarissa Overstreet in the 1860 census of Newton Co, MS.

Do you have any notes on a Clarissa Smith or Clarissa Overstreet or the mother of Marium Orlena Smith Overstreet?

I look forward to hearing from you,

Karen Beauchamp Harris
Overstreet Family
I am also researching my Overstreet heritage. Washginton Madison is my 3rd great grandfather. His daughter Zilpha married Rev Francis Parker. They had my great-great grandmother Jemima Parker who married George Beauchamp who had my grandfather Victor Leroy Beauchamp. My dad was Walter Lee Roy Beauchamp and then me Karen Lea Beauchamp. I've just started the Overstreet side. Would love to share information.

Les & Mary
Newton County, MS Overstreet Family
I am researching my Overstreet family from Newton County, MS. My GGGrandfather was James W. Overstreet born 1807 in probably NC, settled in Newton County, MS in 1840, and died in Freestone County, Texas in 1883. I believe that I am related to many of the Overstreet's that you have created memorials for on Find A Grave including Daniel Madison Overstreet, Stephen Madison Overstreet, and William Madison Overstreet. Do you have any family information that you would be able to share with a possible kindred Overstreet? I have much information and am very interested in the Newton County relatives. I would be happy to share my information with you.

Thank you for the good work that you do on Find A Grave and for any information that you can share on the Overstreet family.
