Euna McMillon Obit
LAWN: Euna Estella McMillon, 95, died on Saturday, November 29, 2014. Services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, December 3, at Lawn Baptist Church, followed by burial in the Dewey Cemetery, officiated by Jack Ridlehoover, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, from 4 7pm at the funeral home.

Euna was born on January 5, 1919, to Henry and Dana (Stephens) Sheppard in Shep, Texas. She grew up in Shep attending Wingate high school. Upon her graduation she met and married J.T. (Jake) McMillon on November 23, 1938. Euna and Jake settled in the Lawn area where he farmed and served as county commissioner for Taylor County for 36 years, and she was a homemaker raising their twin sons, Donald and Ronald.

Euna was a true wife of a farmer and rancher. She always was ready to help with any chore that needed to be taken care of, or any job that needed to be attended to. She kept the tractors running by checking on Jake and the boys while they worked in the fields.

Euna loved to cook, preparing meals for the hungry farm hands and large meals for family gatherings, most of her dishes coming straight from her garden. When not cooking she was often found canning the vegetables from her garden for the upcoming winter months. When the boys got older she would work from time to time at various jobs including cooking for the children at Jim Ned.

Euna was a devoted Christian lady who kept the Lord close to her heart. When not caring for her family she was caring for her church family in Lawn.

Euna McMillon is survived by two sons, Donald McMillon and wife Jean of Abilene, and Ronald McMillon and wife Bobbye of Abilene; sister, Sybil Burch, of Phoenix, Arizona, grandchildren Jeff McMillon and wife Kimberely of Abilene, Holly Moore and husband Clark of Frost, Mark McMillon and wife Wendy of Plano, Matt McMillon and wife Rebecca of Abilene, Marci Phillips and husband John of Mansfield, and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T McMillon (2009); grandson, Joel Scott McMillon (1975); brothers, H. A. Sheppard Jr., Barney Sheppard, Darwin Sheppard; and sister, Pearl Allred.

In lieu of flowers donations can made to Abilene Education Foundation (AEF),

P. O. Box 1999, Abilene, Tx 79604 or to her church, Lawn Baptist Church, 518 Ave D, Lawn, Tx 79530.

Wanda, I have previously sent an edit request but you must have missed it. Find A Grave will not let me repeat it. The name on your memorial #37636799 should read William Obed Baker. and his mother is #157811756 Mary Woods. I would appreciate it very much if you could make these changes. Jim Huffman.

Find a Grave Edit
Did you receive my request to edit your Memorial on Peggy Sides, Memorial # 86539365?

I had made the following suggestions.

Date of Birth - 5/12/1922

Father - John Ellinger, Memorial # 53278180

Mother - Dana Young Ellinger, Memorial # 53278239

First Spouse - Grover Oliver, Memorial # 122550099, don't know when they married but it was around 1945

RE: Bobby McMillan
yes Wanda.. I remember you.It was so unexpected. Where did you live in relation to Mac and Jessie Rose? I remember a Nita Pointer just down the street as you make the Bend towards Buffalo Gap. Thank you for your blessings. I have felt the extended love of strangers that I have missed since my dad moved to Midland. I feel in some ways he is reciprocating through the hearts of others.

Calvin Montgomery
Montgomery at Dewey
I was named after my Uncle Roy Montgomery(buried at Dewey 1968 - husband of Betty). My Father is buried there also (Coy Montgomery - died in accident 1953).Constance (Ky) Montgomery is my Grandmother& her sister Ruth Raper (married to J.C.) is my Aunt. I spent some summers with all of those folks back in the 1950's. Roy & my Grandmother had farms out close to Dewey. I grew up down in Ozona & I have lived in Austin for 40 years or so. My son & my Uncle Roy share the same birthday. One older brother James Coy who still lives in Ozona. My wife & I visited Dewey when my Mother was in Hospice care down in San Angelo, she passed July of 2011. There are many more relatives buried at Dewey. Who can I contact to inquire about buying plots at Dewey?
Thanks for the response,
Calvin & Jane Montgomery

Ralph and Bertha Gladden
Hello Wanda,
The transfers have been made.

No, I haven't run across any other Gladden family members. However, from what I understand, some people are trying to photograph all the headstones at Sunset Memorial. That would be quite a job if were true.
