Tracie Curnell
William Pate's Mother
Thank you and you are correct. His mother remarried after the death of his father and became a Daniel. Her maiden name was Atris, I have added Daniel in the bio.

I don't like to accuse anyone of anything but it seems to me that a little hanky panky may have went on. I don't believe Joseph was a son of Joseph Daniel. It is possible he was adopted because the Kentucky birth records, in such cases, show the adopting woman as the mother of a child which is downright confusing. Seems weird but I think it's done for the privacy of the actual birth mother.

I haven't found out the name of Joseph's actual father but went with his marriage record and his mothers obit. I suppose it is possible that all the birth data we have is wrong but doesn't look like it.

RE: Joseph James Wilson Mattingl
I have seen Sally used as a nickname for Cecelia but from all I've seen she died in 1889 and during 1900, Wilson was residing in the home of his daughter Frances Melvina (Mell) Ham and he died in 1914. I'll have to do some research on this Joseph W., born about 1838 as right now I don't know who he was.

This Weekly Mattingly had to have been a nickname and she was his Aunt. I haven't been able to prove it but I tend to think this was a sister of his mother, Eleanor Cusick who married Gabriel Mattingly. Unfortunately Eleanor died about 1859 and the only record I have found for her was the 1850 census. There has been a considerable number of marriages between Cusick's and Mattingly's, especially this particular line. In fact, Cecelia also had a brother who married one of her husband's Aunts but this marriage took place in 1857 so that leaves her out.
