|Mary J Nelsen||RE: Merle Van Buskirk Photo request|
Hi Carolyn, Yes, could you please add the picture of their shared headstone to Viola's memorial? I must have recorded her last name incorrectly after calling the cemetery by adding a "son" so thanks to your picture I changed my bio for her to say Roberts.

Thanks so much for your earlier note about the Hillcrest Cemetery policy on photography. I called them today and explained I am a relative in another state and asked if someone can take a picture for me. The lady on the phone said that would be ok. Would you be interested in taking a photo for that grave - as well as his wife's who is buried next to him? If you are too busy I totally understand so just let me know and I'll update the photo request with additional information to see if someone else in the area can take it on. I appreciate your time and help with tracking this down. The gentleman is a veteran so deserves this memorial being complete.

WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP! THIS IS A COUSIN THAT HAS BEEN GONE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND I DOUBT THAT ANY OF HIS FAMILY EVEN VISIT THE GRAVE ANYMORE. I WOULD NEVER HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER BURIED AT SUCH A COLD PLACE. THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS ANYWAY.

A friend had trouble in a cemetery, and I bet it was this one. I am related to the man's wife. Maybe I can get it myself, but it is a long distance away. Thank You for trying.

Thank you so much for trying. I don't understand some cemeteries that have this policy. Some of us don't live any where close to these cemeteries and Find A Grave is our only help in getting photos.

Thank you for posting the note about the problem with his photo request. Interesting that the cemetery only allows pictures be taken by family. I tried calling them this morning to let them know the situation and tell them I am his cousin in hopes that that will work. However, the office was not open. I'll keep trying and keep you informed. Thanks again - Mary

Thank you so much for making the effort to get this photograph. I appreciate it very much, as I'm too far away to do it myself. How disappointing that the cemetery doesn't allow photos by non-family! Effie was my great grandfather's sister, so they probably wouldn't let me take a photo either. Thanks again for trying. Amy

|jef42||RE: Ewing Photos|
Three things tell me this is Bertran. First, The 1880 census listing for Robert and Hannah Ewing only lists three boys: Robert, age 20; Samuel, 14 and Bertran, 9. Second, while the dates on the stone are well worn, you can make out the year of birth for this stone was 1870, which corresponds to Bertran's age. And, Finally, I could barely make out the first name in the photograph but I could tell that the name contained more than six letters and the last three letters look to be "RAN" which leads me to believe this is Bertran rather than Bertha.
Regardless of whether you buy into my analysis, could you look at your photo and see if you can make out the year of death. It looks to be 1891 but it's hard to tell.
Finally, did you get a picture of the Martin stone you see in the background of the picture of Minerva's stone. I think this is Minerva's mother, Mary Martin. If not, could you put on your list to photograph at some future time.

Thank you for posting the pictures of the Ewing Family. I particularly appreciate the notes you included. One comment: the person you identified as Bertha Ewing is actually Robert's brother Bertram. Thanks again.

Carolyn, thank you so much for trekking out to get me the pic of the Maude Belt stone. So strange how the dates don't quite match the death cert yet close enough that it must be the same person! Another genealogical mystery. I appreciate your efforts.
