RE: James Floyd Hardesty #126775525
I transferred James to you. In his bio I made the corrections you suggested but added Conflict when referring to his service in Korea. That is because the US never declared war on North Korea but was the lead nation in a United Nations force to help South Korea since China, with assistance from Russia, was helping North Korea.

Thank you for point out my typing errors, I try to double check what I write, I have arthritis in my right hand, but this must have gotten away from me.

Leslie Lee Matthews
Thanks for pointing out the typo in Leslie Lee Matthews age. Do you know the date of his marriage to Eliza Alice Smith? If we could add the date it would help assure her spouses are in order. Her 2nd husband Oscar Ford was related through 3 of his 4 grandparents.

Mary, It was wonderful to see the marker for my great, great, great Grand Father, John Templeton (born 1799) amongst your pictures in the Palestine cemetery as well as my great grand father and mother, David and Gay Miller Templeton. Since my father's passing this past August (David Edward Templeton), it has become even more important and dear to my heart to know the lineage of my family. Thank you for all your research. It is GREATLY appreciated.~David J. Templeton, Seahurst, WA.

Please read my profile regarding the URL. It hasn't worked in over a year because spring grove changed their website.
You can go directly to to do your searching if you so desire. I am removing the URL as I go along.

Clifford D Haynes
I saw your note posted on an entry for Clifford D Haynes' wife at Heath Cemetery. Do you think he might be buried at Heath cemetery?

He is listed at Restland cemetery but the office says he is not buried there.

RE: James C. Wilson for DAR
Mary, This DAR app I have is only about 5 years old, so current documentation standards would have applied to it. Actually, this is from their descendant database, I haven't paid $10 for a copy of the actual app. yet. So don't know the sources, but it says James Harvey Wilson and "Ashley" were married 16 Nov 1841 and daughter Mary Jane was born 28 Sep 1842. Do those dates help you?

I think I can use it to prove James Harvey and his connection back to his grandfather, William, who is the Rev. War patriot. Coupled with the marriage record for Jane and all the other info. on James C. it should work.

RE: James C. Wilson for DAR
Mary, thank you so much for your invaluable information. Our family crisis has passed and all is okay, so I had time to read through it all today.

I have gone through some of the same logic, having found quite a bit online before contacting you. DAR will often accept an "analysis" which is basically what you laid out, comparing numerous sources and adding some circumstantial evidence. If I can't find any Primary documents--like probate records, your analysis will very likely work. At least, I will write it up and try it. DAR has so many reference sources that they seem to fill in the blanks once the application is submitted.

My applicant even says she has a picture of Martha Bratton Wilson taken by a studio in Robinson, so no doubt we have the same family. There is a fairly recent DAR app. that goes through James Harvey and wife "Ashley." It goes through Mary Jane, so DAR has previously accepted this "Ashley" as her mother. So I have to prove the marriage to Jane--done on old Illinois records--and the connection to James C.--which your analysis probably does! I agree his middle name is very, very likely Caldwell, named for his mother's father, who was also James.

Since you live in the area, I'm wondering if you have gone as far as to look for probate records for any of this Wilson family?

I will stay in touch and let you know if we find other things to add to this. Holley

RE: James C. Wilson for DAR
Mary, thanks SO much. An analysis will sometimes do it for DAR if all the circumstantial evidence adds up. I have family emergency suddenly, and won't have time to sort through all this for a bit,but really appreciate the help.

If you don't mind, please go ahead and request the links you mentioned earlier from Holly Holt.

Thanks, Holley

James C. Wilson for DAR
Hi Mary, I was thrilled to find your memorial for James C. Wilson linked to James Harvey Wilson and Jane Caldwell.

I am DAR Registrar for a chapter in Greenville, Texas and working with an applicant who is descended from Oscar Wallace Wilson. Oscar's Texas death record (online) says his parents are J. C. Wilson and Martha Bratton. The main thing I need to do is link James C. to his parents.

Since he isn't shown on census records with them, I don't have a connecting document. Can you help us find something? Also, some proof that Jane is his mother? I can see from marriage dates that she is very likely and can make a case from that, but some proof would be great.

We'll certainly share what we have with you too.

I have added her maiden name and linked to her spouse. Interesting info you provided. I will add it to her memorial and credit as provided by you. I have no "famous" memorials, so maybe this is as close as I will get:) If there is anything else I can do to help, let me know. Sincerely, Kathy

Henry Stump
Thank you for contacting me about Henry Stump. His information has been hard to figure out. According to his obit he was born on October 25, 1836. According to the story in the book you pointed out the year of birth was 1839. According to the headstone it is September 14, 1836. I am going with the obit.
As far as his death goes...
His obit says June 6, 1893. His headstone says July 6, 1893. Again I am going with the obit.
We had the obit in our family bible. I hope it is correct.
Thanks again,
