Hello, Dean, I am one of the other Broom's from Texas - descendent of Martin Broom (the one who removed the 'E' if stories I have heard since childhood are true - have researched the family tree and continue to find more of us out "there"

William Posey Hice
I too am part of the extended Hice family....
My Mother: Ollie Mae Hice Shope 1916-2006
My Grandfather: William Clayton Hice 1872-1960
My GGrandfather: William Posey Hice 1852-1915
..and counter to some contributors, I believe
My GGGrandfather: George Hice 1831-? (1852-54)

This George was the first husband of Nancy McElroy Hice Williamson...(see Paulding co Ga,1850 census for George and Nancy Heiss living next door to John Mckleroy and the 1860 Fannin co Ga census with both William P. Hice and John McElroy shown in the Anderson and Nancy Williamson household.)

There are Fannin co. marriage records for Nancy Hice and Anderson Williamson in Oct of 1855.

William Posey Hice was the only child of George Heiss(Hice), and and Nancy. (I often heard my mother and aunts say that William Posey Hice named his dau Nancy Eller after his mother....)

I have not been able to identify George's father, tho there must be a close connection to Harrison's family, as William Posey apparently named a son after him...

If you or any other contributors have more information or would like to ask me any questions, my email is , I would love to hear from others researching the Hice line.
Thanks so much

RE: Hice
My Hice Connection goes as:
William Posey Hice
(My Great Great Grandfather)
Abram Harrison Hice (Son)
(My Great Grandfather)
Homer Claude Hice (Abram's Son)
(My Grandfather & My Mother's Father)

My mother (who is a Hice) is the oldest of 3 girls born to Homer. There were 2 sets of twin boys born but they did not live, making my mother the oldest of his children to survive.

I'm searching for ancestors from my mother & fathers side, which has taken me ALOT longer than I ever expected. Plus, I never know when to stop. Hence the name: (Hice, Joly, Williams) Coulston.

My mother is a Hice & Joly. My father is a Coulston & Williams.

Hice Family
I just read memorial's of George & Margaret Hice. I was not aware of any of that information. William Posey Hice (brother to George), is my Great Great Grandfather from my mother's side. Are you related to the Hice's also?

"Never mind" my previous request. Reconciled my question about dates. Had read "1870" when the date was "1871". Thanks! Dana B.

Hello, by chance do you know who provided the headstone? I am trying to reconcile that the headstone shows William's death date as Mar 21, 1870, when he appears in the 1870 census, dated Aug 1870. Would appreciate any insights you may have on it. Thank you for the posting the memorial. These are my 3rd great grandparents! Dana B.

Burma and Eddie Chaffin
Hi Dean,

Burma and Eddie Chaffin are actually buried in Oakland Cemetery rather than Greenlawn. Let me know when you move them and I will delete the entries I made.

The GPS coordinates you added show Oakland.

Looks like we are relatives. I have added a couple of pictures to Martin's Memorial. I hope don't mind. If you would rather I run any photos on additional relatives through you first, just let me know.

Olin J. Broome
I was wondering if you could provide me with some information about Olin J. Broome. His death record from Alabama states that his wife was Ella Kate Broome. However, the 1930 census states that his wife, at that time, was Clara M. Broome. Assuming that those two men are the same, there was obviously a divorce since Clara Broome died in 1978. I've not, however, been able to locate a divorce record for Olin and Clara Broome. I'm attempting, after the fact, to discover who the parents of Vivian B. Nachlinger were. I believe that her parents were Olin and Clara Broome but am not positive. If you would be willing, any information/clues that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is Thank you. Judy McCune

Hi Dean,
I noticed you have a posted a nice picture of my Great Great Grandpa George Henry Hice. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of Clearsey Jane Hice Mathews would you?
Are you familiar with the Hice if they were full blooded Cherokee indian? Did they receive any money from the Cherokee treaties?

Chapman Cemetery
Hi Dean,
I saw that you added memorials to the Chapman Cemetery in Gilmer Co., GA. I am hoping to take pictures of the cemetery but have only found that it is a private cemetery. Could you possibly tell me who to contact to get permission to visit the cemetery or even how to get there. I've driven down Chapman Dr. off of Boardtown Rd. but don't see an entrance or road. Any info. would be greatly appreciated!!
God Bless,

RE: Aaron-Cunard Cemetery
From what I understand, the old church has been torn down or destroyed. There was only a house across the road from the "Old" New Rocky Creek Cemetery when we went and I thought I read somewhere that the church was supposed to be across the road from the cemetery. I can't get any idea of when the newer church was built. Were your pictures in the old or new church. I'm sure that the people there at the new church would be glad to answer any questions you might have about the pictures. There is a listing for the church online with a telephone number. Give them a call. When we went down to take the pics, they must have been having a women's meeting and they all were very nice and waving. I will keep my eyes open for any other Aarons and Cunards along the way and let you know if I find any. Take care, Rebecca

Aaron-Cunard Cemetery
Hi Dean,
Just a heads up to let you know that I have added the pics that I took from the Aaron-Cunard Cemetery. Thought you might want to take a look at them. I seem to have missed a few so hopefully the weather will turn better and I can go out and take another look.

RE: Cunard Corrections
Hi, I actually went out to shoot a photo request and decided to take the pictures for the cemetery and finish it up. Could you possibly give me some information. There is a cemetery very close to this one which is obviously an older one. Almost looks like it might have been the original cemetery and the other one was added perhaps when the church may have been moved? Do you have any info on this. The older cemetery is very very old and in bad shape as far as the stones are concerned. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Rebecca

Robert Elton Cunard
I'm pretty sure that his death date is 1963 rather than 1968. I have added picture of grave marker for your convenience. If you are in agreement, please correct the record. The memorial number is 50307118. Thanks.
