RE: Shiloh Cemetery , Big Creek,Ms
Hi Sherry. I was visiting relatives last year in Mississippi and found the opportunity to document several of the memorials at Shiloh Cemetery. Unfortunately, I don't live near Mississippi and am unfamiliar with the family of Jim Wright. I'm sorry I can't provide additional information for your research.
Best regards, Tom Pruett

Lillian Matlock Memorial# 94451156
Hi Sherry, On Lillian Matlock's memorial you left a note saying "I agree that the headstone is hard to read, but according to his death certificate, his name is Lillian & he is the son of J. D. & Blanch Matlock"...

There may be another death certificate, but the one I found shows Lillian's father as E. D. Matlock. I also checked his father's marriage license and the 1930 and 1940 censuses and they all show E. D. or Edd Matlock. His tombstone also shows E. D. Matlock. I will post the death certificate on Lillian's memorial for a while if you would like to check it.
Just thought you would want to know if he is part of your family.

RE: Wright Cemetery
It is located 4.9 miles west of Big Creek, north of County Rd. 308, in a pasture on land owned by Steve Parker, according to the 1996 cemetery survey, which was later published by the Calhoun County Historical Society. Although I was born in Calhoun County in 1937, I have not lived there for 60 years and have never visited this cemetery.
According to the survey the cemetery is known locally as the Sellers Cemetery, the Wright Cemetery and the Sellers/Wright Cemetery. There are a number of unmarked graves in the cemetery. If there are any Sellers graves, they are no longer known.

Thank you, Sherry, for including the updates. I was at Johnson Cemetery (second time) about 2 weeks ago and took photos of all the existing markers to upload to the website to try to make it as complete as possible. Many of the old markers are worn down so much that it's difficult to read. My Pryors lived in this area and one daughter, Rebecca Odom, is buried there. Her son is also buried there. Another Pryor, Mary, daughter of Jacob Pryor is also buried there. I believe there are more Pryors, their graves now lost to history. Philip Pryor brought his family there in 1835 and died circa 1852. He had about 600 acres in the area around Enville and I am sure it's close to Johnson cemetery. How wonderful it is that you're from William C. Johnson. I saw in my workbook that I saw your information on the Odoms from your website on Ancestry.com. Thank you for sharing it. Rebecca Odom was the first wife of Wiley Odom (who married second to Julia Smith). You can see her page in Johnson Cemetery.

Carolina Memorial Park has stopped helping those of us that try to take pictures of headstones. We used to be able to give them the name of the person and they would show us on a map which section and plot the person was buried in. It is an extremely large cemetery and this was very necessary. Now they will not tell us anything unless we can prove we are family. I was told that you will have to go on their website at www.carolinamemorial.com and contact them directly or you can write to them at:
7113 Rivers Ave.
North Charleston, South Carolina 29406
You can also phone them at: (843) 797-2222
If you can find the section and plot number (or the mausoleum and crypt number) I can find it easily but if you can only find out the name of the section or mausoleum they are buried in I will be happy to go and try to find their headstone for you but it is impossible without at least knowing that. You can contact me at fowlerp1@hotmail.com
Thanks, Pamela

RE: Yeakeys in Darksville
You're very welcome. It always bothers me when someone doesn't have a stone and usually try to go back and check. I'm very familiar with Darksville Cem and unfortunately am sure there are no stones. It looks like there are others buried near Daniel & Sarah Yeakey, but no known records have been found that might show who they are. Henry and his wives are buried more to the front of the cem while Daniel & Sarah are towards the back, so I don't think it would be Willie and James anyway. Sorry!

Yeakeys in Darksville
Hi Sherry,
I saw your photo requests and wanted to let you know that neither of them have stones. I added an obit for Willie, and a note that James' burial there came from his death certificate.
Thanks,
Nancy

I really need to get a Family Tree Maker - I just don't know enough about them to decide. But I'm just spinning my wheels without using one. Can you recommend one for a 'beginner' genealogist?
Thanks,

Sherry, thank you so much for the Jackson, Lott, Maness and Canaday Grave Photos in Enville Woodlawn Cemetery... and espcially for added the photos of their spouses which had not been requested.

I was touched by your bio - so glad you and your dear sister were able to spend time together enjoying this meaningful adventure. Your efforts have and will mean much to many.
Thanks,
Shirley
