Bracken Franzen @ Steele City
Hi Ron,
The good news is that I finished photographing the Steele City Cemetery last weekend, so if you are interested in any more photos feel free to ask.

Now for the confusing news: I don't there is an actual person named Bracken Franzen, and I do not find any other Franzens in the directory or any Brackens at all.
On the requests I just filled you will see that there is a large family surname stone with Bracken * Franzen on it. It is in the lot that Carl & Jeanette are in which is row 23, Lot NR23, and the lot is owned by F.M. Lambert per the directory. Anna & Onke Franzen are buried in the row and lot directly east of them, row 24, Lot NR24, which is owned by G.W. Lambert.

To add to the confusion, there is a lot in row 22 NR62 owned by C.R. Bracken, but no Bracken burials found in the directory. I checked the one funeral home book that I have and it does show that there was a Verna Nellie Bracken aged 19y, died 5 Sept 1914 buried at Steele City, but she isn't in the directory and I didn't find a stone for her near the others.

Do you know if Jeannette was a Bracken? I don't have marriage records here but may check at the library and possibly the obits and see if I can find out why there is a stone with both surnames on it.

Sorry if this is confusing!

Kristin

Thank you for verifying John Archer's parents for me. I found his siblings as Ira and Caroline. John (Jr.) children as Hannah, Ceylon, Laura, and Grace. Are there any additions that you are aware of? Thank you for your help. Cheri

I saw where you had added John Archer to the Jamestown Cemetery. Do you know if he had a son named John born about 1841 who served in the 100th Indiana Infantry, Company B from Steuben Co. Indiana? Thank you for any help you can give me.

RE: Thomas L. Cooper
Sure, will do. Does she have a memorial set up? There is another stone near by, that just says Cooper, but it's half-buried under ground. I did not dig it up to try to get a name. I did, however, have to clean Thomas and Charity's stone, with water and a little scrubby in order to get a half-way decent picture. (I was supposed to ask your permission before cleaning the stone, hope that's okay!) There are some dates on there, but they didn't show up well at all, as they are not carved very deeply into the stone. I was thinking I might be able to get a pencil rubbing of the dates - I may try to do that yet.

Ron,

Glad to take the photo. I have set up a memorial for Ida Duncan Tucker and husband C. Sheldon. Both are at the same lot as Wright. Do you want the memorials transfered to you. I am not sure Ida is related to Wright.

RE: Hoyt Family in Knauss Cemetery
Ron,
You are welcome. I also wanted to let you know that I created pages for two other Hoyt's in the same plot and posted pictures for both. Right across the drive from these headstones are some very old Hoyt family stones. I did try and take pictures but you can't make them out. My wife and I were able to make out that they are Hoyt stones and parts of the first names. If you would like I can look at the cemetery records and get the full names and dates, send you the pictures and let you try and match them up with what infromation can still be read.
Good luck,
Jeff

You are welcome for the photos. I always take unrequested photos of additional family members while I am there!

We are trying to figure out if Edwin S. and Solomon are one and the same.

Do you know?

Thanks.

RE: Mary J. Sorgen
Ron,

Wanted to let you know that our problem child volunteer here in Orange County started his tricks again yesterday. The good news is that as of this afternoon Find A Grave has re-loaded a bunch of the requests from January that were deleted by this individual. I have re-claimed your original request and will take off my original and then repost it to Mary's memorial.

It's too bad they haven't gone back to December as there were at least 5 requests at H.S. that got deleted.

We do know that two of the "volunteers" have been deleted from the system, but we are concerned that they will just sign up again under another name.

Hope all is well and have a great weekend.

Take care,

Margi

Ron,

I have just posted the photos for Mary. I have also created a memorial for Roy F. Sorgen, added the photos and will be transferring the memorial over to you. I didn't link them yet.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Take care,

Margi

Ron,

I just claimed your photo request for Holy Sepulcher. I wanted to let you know that we have recently been having trouble with Orange County photo requests disappearing from the system.

I have your information and if you happen to receive a message from a volunteer that there is a problem, i.e., no headstone please forward that information on to Find A Grave.

I have been in contact with other volunteers who have claimed requests, only to have them disappear from the system. We have also heard from people requesting the photos. I have one lady who has had 7 requests disappear. We are thinking that it is a "two legged" issue vs. a computer issue.

If you have any questions just let me know.

Take care,

Margi
