Do you have any idea where the middle name of Richard came from? It is not on the gravestone and doesn't appear in any census records. I have never seen it in any record but someone somewhere decided to add it. David and wife Elizabeth Cannifax are my direct line.

Hi Sam. I just happened to see your question about William Cowan at Thyatira here in Rowan Co. I am over there quite a bit and have most of the Cowan photos. I have the 1995 cemetery book also. Let me know what you need.

I was wondering if you would put the photo for Erastus Burnett Slay on his memorial. It is currently attached to a duplicate memorial.

RE: Lulu
Lulu was reference in her grandmother's (Eliza B. Atchison) biography, but not by name, only as one baby died after 4 days. Lulu's grandfather that was originally buried there was moved to Elmwood in Bowie to rest by his wife, daughter and granddaughter. Capt Sam Atchison was a steamboat captain on the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers who broght his family by wagon in 1872 to Texas. They made their homestead land near Brushy Mound and Victoria Peak (Queen's Peak.) Their granddaughter Myrtle May "Little Mang" Brown Mangum ran a boarding house in Bowie and her husband E R Brown had a grocery. Very greatfull to you for finding Lulu so that I can link her with her siblings and parents.

Hi Sam, thank you for writing me back. That means we are related to. You are the third relative that i have contacted on findagrave. Would you happen to have any old pictures of the Bradleys that Betsy[she called herself instead of Elizabeth]married in to or any of her family before she married Elisha Bradley. I have got their marriage license, they had about 15 children. If you go to findagrave i have posted some of the Bradleys on there from Fleming and Bath Co. I can not find their graves. Elisha died in 1880 and she died in 1885. She was almost 100 years old. It is late i hope we can stay in touch and maybe exchange some information and maybe some pictures. I haven't any pictures of Elizabeth or Elisha. Maybe one day i will find some. Thank you again for writing.

Yeah, I've read Larry's book. He got a few things wrong, but overall it was a very enjoyable read. He lives in Tulsa, where I lived for 25 years. Have talked to him a few times.

Sam,
Thank you for your prompt edit. I really have come to appreciate that SO MUCH on Find A Grave and it is very refreshing when it happens. I have a list a mile long of edits that I keep going back to check on and they are never done...month after month. So you are MUCH appreciated by this contributor! Please let me know if I can be of any help to you in the future. I try and make all edits within 24 hours. Dana PS Earl sounded like quite a brave young man. I am glad he has a fitting memorial that tells of his accomplishments at such a young age.

RE: Jane Cowan
Hi Sam! I will do my best to get back to Thyatira Presbyterian Church soon and look for the headstone you are looking for. I can't promise when though -- I have three young children and it's hard to keep them happy while I am on a hunt. One thing to mention.....there are good many markers in that cemetery that are unreadable. The years of being outside have worn them practically smooth. I just hope I can find the one you are looking for.

Sam,
Glad to send the picture. I can't get at it today, turkey day, but will try to do it tommorow. I am also a decendent of Jane and Ninian Steele. I took the picture about ten years ago. I had found Ninians grave a couple of years before and took the family there on a memorial day. We took some tools to try to find other stones and uncovered Janes which had fallen and been covered with leaves and dirt. The cemetary is in bad shape and the commissioners say they don't have the funds to do anything. It is in the middle of a patch of dense woods that cattle have been allowed to roam in knocking down stones etc. I am now retired so hopefully this next spring I can do something more with it. I am going to try approaching the DAR as Ninian was a documented vet along with one other in that cemetary. Maybe they have more juice than I. Take care Cuz

You are welcome. Good luck in figuring out Homer's name - I'd just have to think that the gravestone information is correct.

I was at Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church in Pontotoc county today. I am fulfilling your photo requests for Tobetha Steele, W.A.J. Steele, Sarah (Addie) Roebuck, and Benjamin Roebuck. I was able to read the inscriptions on W.A.J. and Tobetha's markers but couldn't quite make them out on Benjamin's and Addie's. I'll be back there with my graverubbing supplies someday and I'll get them for you that way. Meanwhile, I'm posting the pictures.

I would love to have you add me to your friends list.

I just messaged you on T.J. Zinn, which seems we have a name difference on him. You have Thomas, grave stone has Thamar.

I will be happy to email you the pictures. I will get to that here shortly.

I will delete Thamar J Zinn that I posted and let you decide what you would like to do with the name difference.

Hi Sam,
Just discovered your memorials for my 4th great-grandparents, John McClary Taylor and Sarah Brown! How happy I am to find this and I wanted to thank you for it and also ask you some questions. Do you have information about this family or ? I had Rebecca Anderson Brown's husband as being John Brown from Ireland and I see that you have Reuben Brown. I was hoping you could clear this up for me.
Thanks so much!
