Jean Roberts Ennis
Cannon Cemetery, Hardeman County, TN
I saw your requests for photos from Cannon Cemetery, south of Bolivar, TN. I have requested some photos too, but I fear that the cemetery may have been moved. Do you know anything about the condition of this cemetery? We have some other family members or locations in common. Would you email me at if you are interested in pursuing our common families.

Snodgrass cousin
I believe you and your late father are distant cousins of mine through our ancestor David Snodgrass of a Snodgrass line from Tennessee and Virginia. Many Snodgrass descendants migrated to or were born in Northern Arkansas. Please contact me at if you'd like more info on your Snodgrass line and to get to know a new cousin.

RE: Anton Spitznagel
There is a large stone that says SPITZNAGEL. His is a small stone in that plot. I think it says Father: Anton and the dates. He is also listed in the Cullman County Cemetery book Vol.I I am trying to find out who is buried in the Spitznagel cemetery. But Alabama didn't start keeping death certificates until the early 1900's. Might get lucky and find something in old newspapers or the Cullman courthouse.

Bill Hunt
I found this in another message to you:
"Last week I located his original obituary in an 1889 newspaper that is in our archives in Guntersville, Marshall Co., Alabama." Can you access the archives by computer? My mother's family, Cornelius, is from Guntersville.

Maria Gilliland (Headstone Hunter)
RE: Duplicate Headstone Photos
I have never meant any disrespect to anyone. I have had many requests for updated photos from family members wanting a more current pic to view the current condition of the marker or area. The most common reasons are cemetery vandalism, weather, and different angles to include various things. Also, flowers placed by other family members who are unable to photograph for whatever reason. If I have offended you or anyone else it was certainly not intentional and I do hope you and any others would understand and accept that. I actually have taken photos for one family member and then removed it for another, caught in the middle so to speak. It is just a photograph so I dont mind removing or adding per any request as my only intent is to be helpful.

John Fleet/Elmwood
Complicated. John Fleet is actually buried in Fowler Public Lot #4, Sp. 346. He was buried on 1-3-1878 and so likely died the day before. There is no marker for him. This area is currently referred to as "No Man's Land" because the area was turned into a series of mass graves for the Yellow Fever Victims who died in the Fall of 1878. Dying in January, he would not have been one of those. I attached a picture of this area.
