|Philip Jay||Lawrence Merton Jacobs|
My grandfather was born in Sturgis, Michigan the son of Marion Jacobs and Sarah Hanna Blue. He changed his name (not legally) and my father and uncle both have the last name JAY. I realize the grave stone has JAY as does his death certificate. Marion, his father, died in April 1933, and is buried in Marshall, Calhoun County, MI.
Just for the record.

Thank you so much for the offer!
These 4 are my direct relatives:
James B Gray (79338860) might also be a relation. He's in the plot with Josiah. I need to do some research. If you want to transfer him to me that would be great, too.
My ID: 48674604.
Thanks so much for the fantastic job you are doing!

Sorry one more thing...
Josiah and Daniel's father is also in Oakridge # 79338755.
I sent you an edit for the birthdate already, but I have the death date as 09/24/1840 which is the same as the interment date listed in your bio although the death date is listed in April of 1840.
Something interesting: (I found this on the web and my explain why all my NY ancestors came to Michigan during this time)
"In the early summer of 1830, New Yorker, Sidney Ketchum rode along Territorial Road until he reached the community we now know as Marshall. Sidney acquired land claims in the area and returned to upstate New Your and New England to recruit settlers. He recruited merchants, doctors, lawyers, ministers and other professionals for his new settlement. In 1832 a schoolhouse was built, since most of the first settlers came from educated communities. Before the Village had even a dozen children of school age, a Miss Brown was summoned from Ann Arbor to teach."
Anyway, just thought I would share this with you.
Be well. Have a great day!

|W. Warder||RE: Daniel Gray in Oakridge Cemetery, Marshall, Michigan|
I am related to the family. Josiah Gray also buried in Oakridge is my 5th great grandfather. Daniel is his brother. Their father was Daniel Gray 1781-1840 who was married to Lydia Bevier.
They had 6 children and all the boys moved West while the girls, Permelia and Theodocia stayed in New York. Josiah and Daniel ended up in Michigan. Barzillai landed in Kansas and Reading in Indiana.
My source for the edits came from my grandfather, Benton Arthur Warder, who had researched the family (his mother was Florence Gray). I believe he may have hired a genealogist - I am not sure, but he gave me a tree (oh, lordy, typed on paper!), which has really been quite spot on with the records that I have been able to confirm with Ancestry.com and/or GenealogyBank.
I really appreciate your taking the time to ask me. Really keeps Find A Grave a quality site for those of us trusting in the authenticity of the records.
Regardless, of your accepting my edits, thanks for all the work that you have done.
My best to you!

I am not a direct Godfrey ancestor, however David's mother Catharine was a Slawson and I'm a direct Slawson descendant. With the large families involved, I'm sure many updates are forthcoming :)

Thank you very much Amy for creating and updating this memorial. David was part of a large family as were both his parents. It's great to see the family come together.

If you come a cross Alonzo Wing I would love to get the information on him. He is buried in Lake view cemetery with other Wings and I know he brought the plots but I'm not able to find out anything else. There is no info in Branch Co. so I'm thinking maybe in the surrounding counties.
Thanks in advance.
