Hi Marsha,

You can do an advanced search here or look through individual issues. Sometimes the search doesn't always catch the exact phrases so often if I know a death date, I will go to the paper with the nearest date and search the issue. Best of luck! This is a great resource and there are lots of newspapers on here from all over the country. Take care, Barb

RE: Elizabeth Adelaide Hoopes

I apologize that it has been so long since I received your message. I have been in school and haven't signed on for quite a while. I am the third-great grandson of Charles Hopkins Allen and Elizabeth.

I notice that you live in Mesa. My grandmother actually lives in Gilbert. Frances Hanks Rogers. Her mother was Mabel Allen. That's where the relation lies.

Thanks for your message.

You are welcome.

It was quite a challenge finding her grave. Many of the reference markers are illegible due to weathering, and so are many of the grave markers. I was not sure whether I would find a legible marker. Fortunately I did.

RE: Misty Miller
Hi. Happy to have been able to help. I do not know anyone named Misty Miller, though. Lydia (Mohney) Gruber was the daughter of 5th great-granduncle Johannes Mohney. Sorry that I wasn't able to help you make contact with Misty, but I wish you the best of luck in your research.

Katz and Gruber's
It was my pleasure Marsha, I'm glad they suit you. I found a Drusilla Catzs (1841-1855) also and a Lovisa Katz (1837-1912, also a son of Henry and Mary Callen, Ralph L. (1888-1905) if you need those.

The stone of Salome's is very hard to read in person also but it stands well over the years. Have a wonderful day! Luci

Salome Gruver
The stone for Salome Gruver does not show up well. It is in good shape but is brown speckled marble and is hard to see, but the dates showed. I hope it is ok...Luci

RE: Chartiers Cemetery
We really don't have any preference on the citation. It's not something we considered when we started this. Don't underestimate yourself on publishing. We recently were able to purchase a reprint of a Burrow family history that was first published in the 80's. It's a valued addition to our collection! We probably will never go to Jefferson County to do requests. There is plenty to keep us busy here, especially after the hard conditions this winter. We had to suspend doing requests as there is no way to know where the flush markers are, under the snow. Hurry spring!

RE: Phebe J Steffy
I am LDS and found info on Mormon Church website (I don't think the records are open to the public yet but since I do transcribing for them was able to find this):
Phoebe Jane North, born 1813 in N.Mahoning Twp, Indiana Co. PA, daughter of John North,(1771-1863) he was born in County Caven, Ireland, died Indiana Co. PA and Elizabeth Pogue, (1783-1846)was born in Ireland and died in Indiana Co. PA;

Phoebe married 1832 to John Steffy (1810-?)

Deborah (1807-1891)
Margaret (1809-?)
John Jr. (1811-1886)
Elizabeth (1814 or 1816-1891)
Joseph P (1818-?)
Thomas (1821-?)
William P (1824-?)
Daniel (1832-?)

only one child is listed for Phoebe and John Steffy (Thomas Samuel Steffy (b, 17 Aug 1849 Punxsutawney, PA and d. 31 Jan. 1924)
but that only means that who ever sent in the info may not have known about the other child

Another thing, I believe it could be your Phebe Steffy who is buried in the Covode Cemetery. Sara North is buried in the same cemetery and she was the wife of Thomas P North, a sibling listed above. Unless of course someone named their child after Phoebe. Have you sent a memorial stone picture request?

Hope this has helped and hasn't confused you too much.

Added by Max on Sep 20, 2010 6:58 AM

RE: Phebe J Steffy
I found her burial record at Treasures of the Past.
Below is the copied and pasted record. Perhaps the transcriber made an error

STEFFEY Phebe J w/o John 15 Mar 1871 16y 7m 23d

Covode Methodist Cemetery; North Mahoning Township, Indiana County, PA

sorry I can't be of more help though I will check some other sites

Kutz 53964434
Hi Marsha,
I just deleted the memorial I had on for Mrs. Kutz. No sence transferring it since you had already put your own on. If you would link her to her husband, # 53963757, I would appreciate it.
Also, did you want the Grubers in Alcola transferred? If so, let me know which ones.

RE: Catharine Gruber BIGLEY
Hello Marsha,
No I am not related to Catharine Gruber Bigley. I did not create that memorial. I just added the headstone photo because of a photo request I received.

Take care,
